  • Interesting development:

In a significant move, the Syrian ambassador to London, in an interview with the BBC, called on Hizbullah to stop firing missiles at Israel.

"Syria is not interested in joining the battle," the ambassador said. He also asked Hizbullah to come to an arrangement that would include exchanging prisoners.

Saudi Arabia, the Arab world's political heavyweight and economic powerhouse, also caught international attention by accusing Hizbullah guerrillas - without naming them - of "uncalculated adventures" that could precipitate a new Middle East crisis.

A Saudi official quoted by the state Saudi Press Agency said the Lebanese Hizbullah's brazen capture of two Israeli soldiers was not legitimate.

I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Indeed. They like it when they can sit back and use their proxies instead.

                  Interesting,indeed.
They seem unwilling to either wage war against 1-2 nuclear powers (israel and probably the usa as well) or lose their face because they didn´t assist their allies.
Wouldn´t have expected such a move by SA and syria.

                      • Why wouldn't you have expected such a move from Saudi Arabia? Sunnis generally don't like Shi'ite rebels. Especially when it means screwing up Lebanon again for no gain. The Saudis are smart enough to realize this is an attempt by Hezbollah to weaken the Lebanese government and get Syria back in.

                          • The Saudis seem to have little to gain backing Iranian-backed troublemakers. The Syrians are plain out of courage. Meanwhile Lebanon is really being wrecked. Not good. Expect the Israelis to to go through Southern Lebanon after the rocketeers any minute now.

                            • One would think that a prosperous, Syria-free Lebanon would be a good, valuable thing for Israel, and that they might think for oh, one second, before blowing the country's infrastructure to bits. But no.

OK, Lebanon will invite foreign specialists to rebuild the country.
