and to the people bashing Islam... it's completely ignorant and retarded to blame an entire religion for the actions of fanatics and extremists. These people have abandoned the tenets of their faith. And to be perfectly frank, the mouth breathing knuckle draggers spouting ignorant crap and bashing Islam are no better than the fundies and fanatics responsible for this violence, IMO.


It's my hope the violence doesn't last long and that things can be resolved. I recognize that Israel is facing extremists bent on creating conflict and are only defending themselves, but they should use restraint and take care to not cause civilian casualties. Hezbollah may have started this conflict, but there are a lot of innocent people living in Lebanon. And protecting yourself doesn't justify using excessive force and causing civilian casualties.

One thing that we should all keep in mind is that the goal of the Islamic extremists is to create conflict. Violence is only going to beget more violence. They know they can't destroy Israel. Their goal is to spark a larger conflict. Israel would be wise to not allow that to happen.

Use what force is necessary to destroy Hezbollah's ability to launch strikes, then stop the violence. Anything else goes beyond what is necessary and plays into the hands of the extremists.

Hey, wait a minute! I'm realizing this waaaaay too late (and it's probably been addressed around p. 4), but come to think of it, we should be rooting for you guys. You might attract terrorists who would otherwise be causing damage to Iraq during a critical transitional period. Unlike our Marines et al, and certainly unlike the green Iraqi troops, Israeli soldiers are quite used to attacks from homemade explosives, and using excessive force against rioting rock-chucking Arabs is a proud tradition for the IDF. Nobody even bats an eye at "Israeli soldiers gun down X civilians" anymore. Plus you're not relying on some lame "WMD" BS, but a genuine attack which may have actually been caused by the people you're attacking.

So, callously egocentric Americans everywhere: three cheers for Israeli aggression! As long as they're looking for a fight, we might as well benefit!

I believe they are relatively restrained and seek to LIMIT civilian casualties. It is not possible to avoid causing them when using force.

Israel says warship hit by Hezbollah drone

JERUSALEM - An Israeli warship was hit off the Lebanese coast by an unmanned Hezbollah aircraft rigged with explosives, military officials said.

The attack indicated that Hezbollah has added a new weapon to the arsenal of rockets and mortars it has used against Israeli troops. There were no details on the condition of the warship, though the Arab satellite channel Al-Jazeera reported the Israeli military was searching for four missing sailors.

The Israeli officials said the drone apparently was developed by Hezbollah. The Lebanese guerrilla group has managed to fly unmanned spy drones over northern
Israel at least twice in recent years.

Looks like pM Olmert didn´t act according to the wishes of the israel rightwingers the past months.
Exactly one year after they cursed Sharon with a Pulsa Denura (a cabbalistic death curse which shall kill a victim after around a year) they did the same thing do Olmert.
And obviously these curses are very effective. Yithzal Rabin was cursed with a Pulsa Denura and was killed shortly thereafter. And Sharon was also cursed with it and is now in a very bad shape (AFAIK lying in coma).

The fear of being the next victim of this curse alone will probably (if it works for olmert, too) make many members of the israel government susceptible to blackmailing.
