No. Hezbollah started firing rockets during the initial raid, though they didn't target Haifa until later.Originally posted by Spiffor

Funny that. Didn't the Hezbollah start throwing rockets at Israeli cities once Israel started a military action against Lebanon?"I read a book twice as fast as anybody else. linkCairo's mass-circulation newspaper al-Ahram, which reflects the official stance, said Hezbollah is to be blamed for the ongoing Israeli war on Lebanon, saying the latest escalation with Israel served regional goals.

"Many in Lebanon believe that there are parties who sacrifice Lebanon's security to serve regional calculations and the interests of other countries," the paper said in implicit reference to Syria and Iran which both back Hezbollah."I read a book twice as fast as anybody else. linkAfter a cabinet meeting Thursday, the government said it had a right and duty to extend its control over all Lebanese territory. Interior Minister Ahmed Fatfat said the statement marked a step toward the government reasserting itself.

Other government officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, went further, calling it a first move in possibly sending the Lebanese army to the border, a U.N.-endorsed proposal that Hezbollah has rejected. The officials described the meeting as stormy and contentious but said both sides -- Hezbollah and its government critics -- were especially wary of public divisions at a time of crisis."I read a book twice as fast as anybody else. First, I read the beginning, and then I read the ending, and then I start in the middle and read toward whatever end I like best." - Gracie Allen

Edit: It might as well lead to a new Lebanese civil war. This s incidentally something I don't want to see one bit."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident

You have a cause worthy of life itself. That doesn't happen to many soldiers, and I envy you that. Your beloved are at your backs, your hated enemy at your front. Though I have stood my ground for what's right, I've never been a part of an army that could actually fight for it. I envy you who go out now to try your enemie's heart. Be swift, be smart, never cautious but always wise, and always be ready.
