Italian trio relegated to Serie B

Serie A sides Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been demoted to the second division for their involvement in Italy's match-fixing scandal.

AC Milan will stay in Serie A but will lose 15 points and will be kicked out of the Champions League.

Juventus were also stripped of their last two titles and had 30 points deducted meaning that they are almost certain to stay down for two seasons.

Lazio were penalised seven points while Fiorentina suffered a 12 point penalty.

They got -30 points actually. And imo it's a better solution than Serie C. The goal was to keep them away from big money (Serie A + CL) for two years and I think this will do. There is little difference from Serie B and Serie C in terms of 'money' lost but there is in terms of structures and team strength. This way they probably won't win anything at all in the next year rather than winning Serie C easily.

      • I bet Inter still fail to win the league.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

              • The right thing to do, better for Serie C as well. Sure they'd gotten the money but Serie C would have been a waste of time.

At least this way Serie B will be competitive next year and semi-competitive the year after.

                • Will they play with less teams in the serie A now or will additional ones be brought over from the serie B?

                  • 30 point penalty for Juve! And they get to see the second division with Lazio and Fiorentina (though Lazio may be able to make up the 7 point deduction in one year)

And a 15 pointer deduction for AC Milan (though they get to stay in A).

And no Juve or Milan in the CL Great stuff.

And Inter gets the 05-06 league title . (but not the previous year's)

                    • Juve, Fiorentina and Lazio in B means that three of the formerly-relegated teams will keep their place in the main league
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

To the winningest coach (wins as well as winning percentage) in US Soccer history, I salute you!

Inter and Roma in the Champions League group stages
