  • No, but Serb was trolled away easily tonight.

    • I like Serb though, he stands for the indefensible. I gotta get ready for work but the alarm woke me from too far down.

            • JohnT doesn't owe us an explanation or anything (no matter the backstory), but I would like to know that he is alive and well.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

              • Asher, your demonstration would be fine and dandy if not for one thing.

Apolyton Plus took at least one year of lobbying by the site users, and Dan&Mark were very reluctant at first. The users wanted it because they wanted to support their favourite community without having to endure obnoxious ads, and also to afford more broadband to the site. Dan&Mark refused precisely because they anticipated a headache.

And of the thousands that populate 'Poly, and the hundreds who subscribed to Plus, you are the one who provided said headache. Congrats.

You know why nobody supports you on this one? because no subscriber considers himself as a customer. Paying for 'Poly Plus is a way to support something we like, not an ordinary "customer pays for service" thing.

Except the removed ads, Poly Plus brings nothing of significance to the subscriber. And we're all aware of it, except you, it seems.

                • I don't sign up for Plus precisely because I know I will get upset if I do (maybe not as active as Asher) and get banned.

This means you have common sense

Before registering to Plus, I read the rules, and I've seen that I can be banned just like any non-Plus user, ie at the admins'/mods' discretion.

Of course, since the only ban I ever had was a GP, I didn't consider it as a grave provision. If I had been as ban-happy as Asher, I might have thought twice about it. Especially as Mark&Dan explicitely stated Plus users wouldn't be favoured.

Even so, and even though I think it's a bit too speculative to say JohnT left because of trouble with the admins, and, as usual, you (Asher, that is) have your own "special" way of saying things, I agree with a lot of the other things you've said in this thread. (*cough* I think there are some things left)

                              A self-imposed mod-assisted ban. GP/TCO did that a lot.

Oh, and I agree with DanS.
