It also would have been a good deal if RADAR were widely discussed in 1940.

Then 'the bad guys' would have known not to bother with the Battle of Britain, or maybe they would modify their behaviour?

RADAR was a vital matter to the British people. It was their right to be fully informed about it in the press, right?

In actuality, the luftwaffe knew all about the radar stations which were a primary target after the channel battles.

'Struth. Often they were hard to locate and bomb though and early generation Stukas didn't have the range or fuel to go on a scavenger hunt for them. They also didn't have the ability to put up a fight against RAF interceptors.

Medium bombers such as the Do-17 just didnt have the accuracy to knock out something that small.

Basically the Luftwaffe knew of them, and indeed began installing radar system, such as Wurzburg, but really radar stations were very difficult to knock out with any accuracy at the time.

The radar units constructed by the British just before the war were primarily located on the channel coast, sao they were within range, but they consisted mainly of steel scaffolding anchored to concrete bases. Hitting the scaffolding would have been difficult, yet steel scaffolding would easily withstand the concussive force of a near miss of the type of explosives used in the bombs of that day. I believe that the Germans did manage to put one or two units out of commission temporarily. In at least one case they scared the operators off.

Surely there would be other countries monitoring the Pacific who would let out whether the test was successful or not.

And the "Do it and your country is glass" defense is a pretty good one, don't you think?

Stop comparing the current situation to WW2. They have little in common.

I didn't say the Germans didn't know what radar was but thanks for the link.

the British were using radar more effectively than the Germans realised for air defence

I'm sure an extensive interview with Dowding in the Times would have helped a lot.

In case anyone's interested, the 1/4-mile wide asteroid missed Earth by about the moon's distance from us.

In 2029 we'll be hit by some asteroid that is scheduled to fly by Earth by just 10 or so meters
