if france is up 1- 0 and CH - SK tied 0 - 0, SK doesnt want to risk conceding a goal because then they are out and france is in, so the agreement works for them too.

We wanted to come 2nd so we did. It's Argentina that screwed themselves over, they get to play Germany and Italy and/or Spain, our only tough opponent will be Brazil and then only in the semi-final. Yes, in a knock-out competition anything can happen but I'd much rather face a weakish Brazil than Germany with a massive home advantage and a strong Italy or Spain (well, Italy might not be at its strongest but it's our angstgegner, I can't remember the last time we beat them, even when they were weak).
Edit: just checked, the last time we beat Italy was in 1978, and not because we haven't played them since. We almost always draw against Brazil, no matter how strong they are. Plus, if we have to go out, we'd rather go out against Brazil.
You British have an amazing capacity for self-deception...
Do they not show the Champions League in Holland?

Point conceded, but Phil Neville and Sherringham hardly got any playing time that season (at least in the CL). And of those only Beckham and Gary Neville are at the WC now, with Neville being crap. The only good English players that played in the later stages of the CL this season are Gerrard, Lampard and Joe Cole.
And John Terry and I believe Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell played in the final.
Also, Reds forgot Andy Cole who did play almost every game for ManU including that final, and Paul Scholes who missed the final but played most games and got a medal.

Are you making this up as you go along?
BTW Paul Scholes also played all the CL games except the final (suspended).
Can't believe I'm reduced to defending Arsenal players. Damnit.

The best part of the Spain - Saudi game is that the american commentators are sitting beside the spanish ones. You can hear the spaniards constantly yelling and the americans think it's very funny (and it is). This is the first time I've heard these two commentators. They're much better than the other americans (one may argue that anyone would be better than the parrots though) but not as funny as Tommy Smyth and Adrian Healey.
