Are people who have homes in Florida, who spend over half the year there, disenfranchised?

      They should be, technically.

At least on the provincial and municipal level.

Federally, they should still be able to vote.

            I still don't like that.

Someone born and raised in BC who has a winter home in Arizona (there are a great nu,mber of them) is still a citizen of BC.

And yeah, that does suck for Quebec.

Very strange, considering the rep Quebec has as more liberal than most.

If I have to deal with one more ****ing "quirk" of Quebec's legal/educational/linguistic system I'm going to ****ing scream. You would not believe the amount of time I've had to spend explaining myself to people because of the ****ed up way they do ****.

Yes, I get that progressive and liberal are not necessarily the same thing.

                    a) They're not a "citizen" of BC; they're a resident of BC

                    b) If they choose to live somewhere else more than half the time, then why the **** should they get to vote in BC? It's their problem that the place they live more than half the time is in another country, and thus does not allow them to vote there

Move to Alberta and tell everyone to **** themselves.

I think they are citizens of the province they are born in, own property in, and spent most of their working lives contributing to.

They should get to vote in BC because they earned the right to.

I've never heard of any of our snowbirds being disenfranchised. There'd be hell to pay.

When people go to another place, the natural reaction is usually "well, that's how things work here". OTOH when they go to Quebec, for some obscure paternalistic reason, it's always something like "but why aren't you like us???"

Easy. Take away one year of high school. Then make it that it's 3 years instead of 4 to graduate with a college degree. The two years in the middle are called cegep.
