They do, unless they are moving at impulse speed.

Oh yes, just like Borg Cubes are immune to phasers and Torpedos, but in First Contact it was torn the **** up before the E arrived.
Can't recall that. The Fed fleet was getting beat up by the Borg Cube (Worf's ship was breaking up and stuff). Then Picard and team got on the scene and they all fired at some spot at the Cube, eventually destroying it.

I'd say the incredible popularity of the movies warrants them a spot.
Titantic is still by a long shot the best selling movie of all time. Does that mean it's anything other than a load of sentimental dribble? Real-life shows like Big Brother and the like (don't know what shows are popular in the US/Canada today and I really don't want to) are ATM by far the most popular form of television in the world, does that make it even remotely watchable?

Of course, SW never had any redeeming qualities to begin with (other than great special effects)
Or being among the greatest movies of all time.
Star Wars is a fairy tale thinly coated in pseudoscientific technobabble.
There is nothing great about the movies, except for their ability to rack in the $.

That pseudoscientific technobabble was mostly borrowed from Asian philosophy and lore.
“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
"Capitalism ho!"
You are all forgeting the SW EU superwapon the SunCrusher that's basicaly a little indestructable fast ship that destroys entire solar systems. How does Voyager deal with that...
They reroute the warp coil through the deflector array and inject it with borg nano probes, creating a pocket universe trapping the little ship there for eternity, while being chased by an imperial star destroyer and a borg cube after nearly being destroyed by an overwhelming fleet from the Dominion. damm...
I'm not buying BtS until Firaxis impliments the "contiguous cultural border negates colony tax" concept.

Unlike Star Trek, there is actually almost no science of any kind in Star Wars. It's mostly about the mythology, the characters, the plot... and the giant explosions and glowing swords.
It has always seemed silly to me, that people base calculations of firepower to explosions and stuff... That asteroid wasn't blown to pieces because the turbolaser is powerfull, but because it looks nice on the screen...
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"
It's called suspension of disbelief and verisimilitude. In order for science fiction to make sense to us nerds, we have to be able to measure it and count it and rationalize it.
