Oh come on. You could write a book on the causes of World War One. There is so much involved in it that you can't simply pin it on Princip.

Tattila, why don't you read that link about the Black Hand. It was a terrorist organization creating havoc in Austrian-occuppied "Yugoslavian" lands. It was organized and directed by the Serbian government. In truth, the Serbs were already at war with Austria. The assassination of the Archduke was merely the last straw in a very long series of outrages, not an isolated act of terrorism by misguided and independent youths.

The Austrians knew the Serbs would not agree to allow their representives to investigate the Black Hand. War was inevitable.

True, in part. Killing the Archduke was bound to cause a war. That is why the Serbian PM ordered the plot to be scrubbed when he was informed of it. The only thing that was not understood by the Serbian plotters was that the war with Austria would spiral into a world war.

So it's no longer Britain that started the Second World War?

Much has changed in the Nedaverse.

Not so fast. Britain did start the war in Europe. But it was Mao who started the war in China.

Also, as regards to WW I, Britain's intervention in that war was fully intended to be a land grab of Germany's overseas possessions and to provide Britain with an excuse to dismember the Ottoman Empire and take over Iraqi OIL.

The Napoleonic wars were also started by a communist revolution in 1789.

The Ottomans declared war on the Entente, not the other way around, a month or so after the start of the war. And no-one knew about Iraqi oil in 1914.

Edit: This is wrong. The Entente declared war on the Ottomans from the 1st of November.

Edit 2: The Ottomans bombarded Russian Black Sea ports on 29th October. Not that this will mean anything to Ned.
