As to WW II, there was a war in China that began in 1936. There was a war in Europe that began in 1939. What united them and truly made them a World War was when America entered the war in 1941, fighting both wars at the same time.

So in a sense, World War II does begin in 1936 in China.

Untrue. The Condor Legion included tank crews, with Panzer I tanks. However, as documented by Heinz Guderian in his autobiography, the extent to which these tanks were used was on too insufficient, and the terrain too unsuitible for tanks, to allow any doctrine to be tested in Spain.

IIRC the Germans also tested anti-aircraft guns against tanks and fortifications in the war.

We'll just ignore the fact that the Japanese were planning an assault on British and Dutch colonies in Asia prior to 1941, and had indeed forced Vichy France to surrender Indochina after the French capitulation.

They were hired by the "Black Hand," which appears to be a terrorist organization operated by the Serbian government. http://www.lib.byu.edu/estu/wwi/comment/blk-hand.html

The reason Austria declared war was that Serbia declined to allow Austria to participate in the investigation of the terrorists. Given what we now know of the Black Hand, there is little doubt as to why Serbia rejected this Austrian demand.
Declined? I seem to recall Serbia declined to be bent over backwards and forcefully violated with sharp objects up her rectum, using modern terms. They could never have accepted the ultimatum, so outrageous where the demands within. And just incase, the Austro-Hungarian embassador was instructed to decline to receive any answer, at all.

Irony was, that Arch-Duke was a modern monarch, he believed in more self-rule and liberties for the various minorities in the empire, including the serbs.

And I don't believe Black Hand, or Princip, were communists. Nationalists, even patriots, trying to force a chance to the rotten monarchies of europe. Not spark a a war, mind you. Not even that many of the politicians at time saw war coming, untill germans mobilized... "Whut, we are at war? How did this happen?"
