That's not entirely accurate; the Tangu Truce established a DMZ south of the Great Wall that included Beiping & Tianjin, then the He-Umezu Agreement removed all GMD government bodies in Hebei province, and finally the creation of the Hebei-Chahar Council gave Japan administrative control of the area. By 1937 it was Chinese territory in name only.

As for the insinuation that the communists fired the first shots in the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, that's way out of right field. I'd need to see somthing more than a short quip from the Hitler Channel to buy it.
    Unbelievable!

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Oh, you through a bomb and that makes you an anarchist? They were Serbian nationalists.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

The war started with the so-called "Peiking Incident." Until the History Channel bit, I had no idea that what happend was that Mao attacked the Japanese in Peiking.

But seriously, the germans do get too much blame for WW1.
Yeah, and somewhat unfairly as they had no idea of the Austrian ultimatum before it was sent.

No doubt about the "structure." But commies sparked the fuse.

Until the History Channel bit, I assumed that the people behind the slaying of the Archduke were Serb nationals. But, instead, they were anarchists who fully intended to spark a war.

Che, what you say here is what I was taught. The HC said they were anarchists. Given the meaning of that word today, I think it is clear they were commies.

They were hired by the "Black Hand," which appears to be a terrorist organization operated by the Serbian government. http://www.lib.byu.edu/estu/wwi/comment/blk-hand.html

The reason Austria declared war was that Serbia declined to allow Austria to participate in the investigation of the terrorists. Given what we now know of the Black Hand, there is little doubt as to why Serbia rejected this Austrian demand.
