    Where? In Europe?

In the US, they are broadcasting all the games in Hi-Def, yes, but on the regular channels (non Hi-Def ABC, ESPN, ESPN2), it'll be analog.

Thankfully I have an HDTV (best purchase I ever made )

Don't confuse digital TV with high definition TV. You can have crappy quality video in standard definition on digital TV -- i.e., it is no indication of quality.

High definition TV programming is another beast entirely. It is digital, but is only available in quantity in the US, Canada, Japan, Korea, and Australia.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Ahh, I meant HD-TV.

To be honest I only something of it on dutch television. for some strange reason the WC isn't really a big thing here.

HDTV is utterly amazing for sports, btw... Hell, it's utterly amazing for anything. I find myself watching things just because they are in High Definition (I don't think I've ever seen so much NASCAR before ).

I agree that HDTV is great for sports. The last half dozen or so Super Bowls have been in HD and the last 3 olympics have been in HD, so I guess it would surprise me to see this WC produced only in standard definition.

How many people in Europe can actually tune in high definition content, however?

With regard to buying DVD movies, I would avoid it, if you have access to a service like Netflix in Belgium.

The only DVD's I've bought since signing up for Netflix are Murder by Death and a couple of Miyazaki films.

It's just useless crap, unless you're a serious collector. I box up the boxes and keep the DVDs in jewel cases for my media cabinet.

The simple life is preferable, if it can be arranged. I regret having bought the DVDs that I did, if just for the space they consume and for the clutter they introduce.

It may be useless crap, but it's also fancy.

                          Indeed

I keep all my DVD boxes. Have a DVD rack just for 'em.

A service like Netflix is good in that it forces you to get rid of all the useless crap after you're done watching the movie.

Of course, to each his own.

This would be on of my first purchases. I've already borrowed it from a cousin and it looks really nice, on the outside as well on the inside.
