  • I don't really see a problem with this is because all parties involved are treating this as a nice to have, not an "Oh my God we have been torturing these poor dudes for years" thing.

Now my suspision is that said muslim petitioners probobly would have resorted to that if they were denied, but they weren't, so we will never know.

Secondly, yeah, lets torture prisoners and forbid them from religious service. I mean there is no need for them to be happy at all in prison!
Is there anything that is not considered torture these days?

Hard to claim the high ground against Cali when you spout nonsense like that.

    • No one said that they're getting violent, or that the toilet is pivotal to their fate. These are, again, strawmen. What happened is that the prisonners' representatives made certain suggestions to the warden to make the prison more accomodating to the prisonners' beliefs. This was one of them. And it made a trivial difference in the cost of the refurbishment.

I find it amazing that anyone could possibly have an objection to this. This is totally trivial. And it's not worth discussion.

I'm just here to laugh at Cali.

The hits just keep on coming! Ramo, I'm not sure you realize this, but by continuing to even debate this remarkably stupid topic, you're only proving my point further.....you realize this, yes? Why do you think I'm egging you on at this point? (hint: it's got something to do with this is the dumbest topic of debate in human history, and that you can post an "argument" IN SERIOUSNESS is...golden.) But hey! Keep 'em coming! I've not had this great a laugh in a long time! You really take this $hit seriously, don't you (now there's a double entendre for you!). I love it!

They're not strawmen, but you keep tellin' yourself that. "Your side" of this fiasco you'd dearly love to call a debate has brought up all of the above as possibilities. Go read and see. You are right about one thing tho...it's totally not worth the discussion. That's why I keep eggin' you guys on...cos you get sooooooo serious about it. I think it's great!

That there is an assumption that you couldn't possibly have gotten from the BBC article.

You are correct, good sir! For that, I used a grain of common sense! See....toilets typically have this stuff called....are you ready...PLUMBING associated with them.

Now, this is top secret stuff here, but PLUMBING is typically housed behind WALLS.

When you turn a toilet 90 degrees, the PLUMBING can no longer just conveniently attach to the device at the outer end (sometimes referred to as the $hitter). When this happens, there's typically some re-work that has to go into the interior. It's not just a matter of scooting it over and poof! the plumbing takes care of itself. Even if they only had to by a few extra elbow joints to handle the turn, it'd still cost something more (but the proper way to do it...and these are Brits, remember) would be to re-evaluate the interior walls and where the pipes will go.

No...it wasn't mentioned in the article, but they're already laughing stocks...in that position, would YOU fess up to additional costs?

      Hell no!

How so? I mean Cali thinks prison is punishment and prisoners shouldn't be happy at all.. so why not break their legs or perform Chinese water torture or sleep deprivation or use the rack? I mean it's punishment after all!

          • In my book, when they committed the crime they in for, they lost their right to be offended.

And doesn't the Koran say anything about committing crimes?

Sure, as long as the chaplains are replaced by something better.

It's not the prisonners that need Christ's teachings as much as some of the people who want to pointlessly piss prisonners off, which doesn't make anyone's life better.
Prisoners are pissed off from the get-go anyway.

Prison is a place of punishment. Provide the basic necessities with some opportunity for self-betterment and that's it. No frills.

It depends how many centuries you want to go back. In any case, it's rather irrelevant to what is happening in the present day, don't you think?

It takes two to tango. I'm getting plenty classics out of this too, like the government grants are free comment.

"Your side" of this fiasco you'd dearly love to call a debate has brought up all of the above as possibilities.
No one has said that it's absolutely pivotal to Muslim beliefs, and no one has said that this alone could trigger violence (what we have been saying is that it is a component to poor morale, which could lead to violence). Again, these are strawmen.

You are correct, good sir! For that, I used a grain of common sense! See....toilets typically have this stuff called....are you ready...PLUMBING associated with them.
You realize that the toilets haven't been built yet, right?

We don't even know if there's relevant plumbing in the suggested rooms. We don't know if the rooms exist. We don't know if the plans were made before the suggested rotation of the toilets.

What we do know is what the Home Office spokeswoman told us about the refurbishment's funding.

No...it wasn't mentioned in the article, but they're already laughing stocks...in that position, would YOU fess up to additional costs?
Yes, you and Cali and Newsmax are laughing at them. I'm sure they're cowering at that.

It could be that, you know, they're telling the truth.

The quote sounded suspiciously like you thought any hinderance to a persons religious worship was torture.

                              Unless you were being sarcastic.

And that's why it's important to keep them as content as possible. Pissed off violent people are not easy to deal with.

A toilet rotated in a slightly different direction from the other toilets in the prison is not regarded generally as a frill.
