You really shouldn't be asking us since you're the one who will be stuck with this career choice for the rest of your life. You should be asking yourself what you enjoy and what makes you happy.

Or then again most students change majors several times and this is especially true for people with "hard" majors (I.E. the science, engineer, or technical fields) so you may very well end up as a econ or liberal arts major.

Why don't you, Kuci, for now, minor in two subjects and then after a semester or year decide which one you want to 'major' in.

Then, if you wanted, you could double major and have a minor as well (at my uni getting a minor in a subject was incredibly easy).

I also plan on getting an MBA at CMU through a 5-year program they have (undergrad and MBA in 5 years). The primary use for the second major would be in knowing the fields in which I could apply the CS.

If you want to do CS for the rest of your life, Math would probably be the most useful.

Undergrad economics programs are relatively weak (compared to Engineering and math). Much of what they teach in undergrad courses is a kind of lightly quantified ideology, and it's not until you take graduate courses that you find out how little predictive power the "classical" models have.

If you're interested in a technology career, I recommend that you stick with the hard sciences and choose a second major in engineering, physics, or math.

                  Big plans for a freshman.

Go with a single major for a year or two, see how things are going, and then decide. Don't over commit yourself to early.

That's not necessarily true, but the MBA thing seems premature. Better to take some upper division or graduate econ classes instead. You'll learn more, and won't be tied down to a schedule without any freedom.

Take something that supports your first major.

I chose Math myself, but that's not the only one. You can always do Economy, that would be a good asset as well. I'd choose from the two, economy and math.

I don't see how math complements street fighting

I'm not majoring in street fighting. And I don't do that anyway. I only defend myself against aggressors. That said, I have not been forced into self defense mode for a LONG time.

It depends which direction he's heading in for CS.

If he's heading into the more practical aspects, like Software Engineering, Economics will likely be more beneficial (real world).

If he's heading into the more theoretical, Math will be more beneficial.
