Washington metrorail to be extended to Dulles airport

I think the Metro extensions are going to be a great thing that will make the area a lot more livable. If we develop heavily around the new Metro stations it'll alot be easier to get housing that will let you bypass traffic, and reduce congestion for those still on the road. It should also help with the pressure on housing prices, if it became so you didn't have to live as close in to get a reasonable commute time.

Another thing that should help alot will be the planned HOT (High Occupancy toll) lanes, they should reduce congestion while paying for themselves.

It's connected to that. IIRC Davis promised $1.2b from the feds if localities come up with a dedicated source of funding. It may have been shelved, it may have not been. I haven't paid much attention this week.
