    Just curious...

Why do you even ask? Its a self evident answer, (from a holier than thou perspective its the relgious rightist Republiscums)but don't for a minute think the Demonrats are any better.

Reason number 25 why I am not affiliated with either.

It's just my opinion, but it seemed to me that the incessant weed smoking was a major contributor to the depression/lack of motivation (which kinda go hand in hand, don't they?). I'm not against smoking weed recreationally, but this guy was smoking 2-3 times per day, every day.

Have you tried not smoking for a few weeks to see how you feel?

      -Arrian
      Yeah

Last year, from March to November I didn't smoke. I gained 25 pounds and was the worst I ever was.

I really should be more careful the way I talk about my marijuana usage. I think the perception here is different from reality. Honestly, I am not smoking a lot of weed. It's not "selfish hedonism"... to quote Alan Keyes.

      It's more like self-medication.

First, because my supply is limited... I really can't afford (not monetarily, but in terms of my actual supply) to be smoking a lot, because I'd go through my supply too fast. I don't buy weed... generally... So what I get is what I have to go on for about 3-4 months. And I don't know how much it is in weight, but volume-wise, it's about enough to fit in a large jar... compressed pretty densely.

Second, smoking a lot increases tolerance, and it takes more to get the same effect. So not only do I go through my supply more, but I need to smoke more, and even though I like the effects, smoking isn't all that pleasant. So I'd rather do as little as possible to achieve the same effect.

Third, I've noticed that getting stoned can, in large part, be almost like meditation. The mind can enhance the effects. So I smoke a little, see how I feel, and if I'm feeling good... that's it.

Each day, I probably smoke about less than a thimble full.

And for the week, it's about 4-6 times on average.

Some nights, I'll fall asleep without smoking.

The thing is, my first suicide attempt was before I even smoked weed. It's just a simple pleasure for me. Like eating pizza, watching TV, or playing video games.

At this point in my life, I'm suffering in absolute misery... every waking second. The simple pleasures are all I have. With the legal status of marijuana being what it is, I've had to go to certain measures to acquire it in the most effective and efficient means possible.

I'm completely up front with my doctors about my marijuana usage. Since I have been smoking the last month... and really, kind of off and on since last November, I've lost 20 pounds. I sleep every night... all the way through.

And most importantly... I've not killed myself.

Marijuana isn't a cure... it's not a treatment for depression. It's just a simple pleasure.

And once my treatment starts making real progress, I won't need to rely on all these "simple pleasures" to make my life bearable. Does this make sense?

And also... living with my parents, I'm under intense scrutiny... when it comes to my mood. So if it were having a negative effect on me, my mom would not allow it. Or I'd not be welcome here.

Hey, people are different. I don't really understand clinical depression... you just made me think of my friend and I thought I'd relay my thoughts. He, as far as I know, wasn't as severly depressed (no suicide attempts, anyway).

By the way, have you considered ingesting it w/o smoking it (cookies/brownies, tea, etc?) to cut out the damage to your lungs?

Yeah. That's one thing I have definitely learned. My situation is really unique. Traditional treatments for depression have not been helpful at all... medications, etc. That's why people sort of do a double take when I tell them that I use marijuana to help me with depression. But hey, whatever works, eh?

My situation is the result of abnormal activity on the left side of my brain.

I am going to start a thread about my brain. I've got some cool images to share... from scans. I thought some people would be interested. It's pretty cool stuff.

My doc says we're forging new ground with the work he's doing with me with the treatment of depression... the scans, qEEG's, even nutritional supplements...

I'd like to try baking, but I really don't have enough to do that. Plus, baked goods don't last very long... compared to storing bud in jars.

My Listerine Bong works very well, though. It's not harsh at all.

I'd like to get a vaporizor. I hear those are nice.

heh, what's this thread supposed to be about again?

I don't understand this desire to "paralyze the government". This sounds like treason to me. I mean, how is it not anything but treason? It's basically an ideology with the goal of sabotaging the government so that powerful people can do things without fear of the government taking notice and stopping them. Because what tool do the people have at their disposal other than the government?

"Paralyze the government"... "Starve the beast"... It's like the creed of a criminal organization... but somehow, it's evolved into the backbone of the mainstream conservative ideology. Why don't people recognize this? I don't think most people want to support nefarious, morally repugnant activity. But why don't they see this ideology for what it is?

Why can't people support the idea of the government functioning with checks and balances? You know? Democracy? Electing people to the offices who will do the job properly? Whatever happened to that?

            Where's the endorsement for that?
Rich libertarians and conservatives want to paralize the government because they are scared to death the majority will take away thier power and influence and tax the income those rich people got from the exploitation of the workers.

Gaining weight huh? You may be interested to know that one of the newest medicines in the pipeline for the treatment of obesity and diabetes is an "anti-cannabibnoid". Rimanabant blocks cannabis (THC) receptors in the brain. It is so far the most effective weight loss medicine yet. Stage 4 trials are getting underway at various universitiies across the US. It also seems to improve diabetic control and reduce lipid levels independently of appetite control. It is now known that THC has negative effects on lipids and glucose in the blood independent of its effects on appetite.

Oh, and regarding the Disney mobile system, these are cell phones right? What self-respecting teen is going to be caught dead carrying a 'Disney" cell phone? I'm willing to bet that these things are being marketed towards younger children. Now, if I gave a cell phone to a pre-teen I'd definitately want a lot of control over how the phone was to be used. In fact, I'd want to limit the available phone numbers to a pre-approved list.

                                How old was this kid?

It would be difficult to make a watch that couldn't be removed. Kids are more elastic than adults. All he has to do is squeeze his wrist through.
