    Why the hell would you need progressive scan for games like Myst?

    You want progressive scan for rapid, intense movements...like in FPS games.

      Obvioulsy your HDTV sucks hairy balls(mine are good) What that means in here is that most HD TVS are sold with HDMI and that tred is only incresing. More people are buying 1920x1200 lcd displays etc...The TV equipment as well as carsda are in a ttrasnsitional pahse in EU atm. Component is sooooooooo passe.

          But the point is most of the HDTVs on the market (read: your target market) don't support HDMI.

          Why would developers for games target 1080p knowing the vast majority of people can't use it? They are better off devoting the scarce memory bandwidth in the PS3 towards turning on anti-aliasing, adding HDR lighting, adding more effects to the screen, etc than upping the res.

          The PS3 has a serious bottleneck problem with the 22GB/s bandwidth to the graphics chip...the Xbox 360 has 256GB/s embedded DRAM on the chip that removes the expense of things such as anti-aliasing, HDR, etc. that most of the 22GB/s on the PS3 needs to be allocated for.

          99% of PS3 games will be 720p or 1080i (with an option to switch). I guarantee it.

            Hey! Myast is tranquil and beutiful, i undertsand thjat you may have some difficulties in grasping that but..

            Anyway true 1080 HD TVS wtith hyper crhystal clreal chisp are like 2010sh....im getting really drunk here but can see the diffencwe. Its mostly non laminated 1080 with HDMI in EU for the past 5 years in the EU dunno bout NA

              There is no standard for that, and you really don't need that as you can't see that.

              What you're confusing it with is luminance detection (CRT monitors with < 100Hz) and that the fps mentioned tend to be "average framerates" with dips below half the time (by definition ).

                  yeah, I know refresh rate is different (that needs to be at least 75 Hz)

                    PS3 will be more advanced then X360 no matter what kind of HD DVD peripehrals they will intriduce....thats the end of it

                      Yeah.

                      The PS3's "Cell" chip is the merging of 9 processors: A late-90s PowerPC Star processor as the PPE and 8 1990technology -level tiny processors. The graphics chip is a cut down GeForce 7800.

                      The Xbox 360's Xenon core is 3 processors cut down from IBM's Power5 and merged onto one core. The graphics chip is forming the basis of ATI's next-generation chip (X2000-series), also known as R600. The Xbox 360 also has 256GB/s eDRAM for the graphics chip, and there's no such thing on the PS3.

                      The PS3 is a lot of simple things, it's not more advanced.
