No doubt that is true, Lawrence of Arabia (or should we now call you Osama the First), but Bonds is somewhat unique in his hatred of White people, his disrespect for his teammates and the fans, his use of steroids and...., and...., and....
Bonds actually deserves to be in jail, not on a baseball field. White folks in particular, should spit back at this rascist.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

So does Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt for their use of speed (greenies) and possibily Hank Aaron (if the anecdotal evidence is true).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Imran, he will go to jail for perjury and only perhaps for using an illegal drug. But the perjury thing is serious and is currently being investigated.
As to any sports legend who cheated, wipe their records.
This is the first I've heard about Schmidt or Aaron. (I actually saw Aaron hit a few. He had a very quick bat and a lot of power.)
As to Lawrence of Arabia, he was a Nazi and an Arab nationalist. Osama the First has a nice sound to it.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

Empty record books
This is the first I've heard about Schmidt or Aaron.
Schmidt admitted he took greenies and a number of players say Aaron was taking 'red juice' (liquid amphetamines) and even kept it on the top shelf of his locker.
And T.E. Lawrence was against colonization.. no wonder you hate him so.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Nice to know you are pro-colonization. Gotta keep brown people down, right?“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Imran's just mad because everything that he loves about baseball... the inflated numbers, the OPS, all that garbage, most of what we've seen in the last several years... it's all a fraud. Deep down, he knows it's all the result of performance enhancing drug abusing science project freaks like Bonds... Giambi, McGwire, Sosa... and who knows how many more. I wouldn't be surprised if Pujols was a juicer of some sort the way he's now defending Bonds. Nothing surprises me anymore.
Just because we don't have hard evidence about every single player that might have cheated back in the day, doesn't mean we should allow the absolute worst offender to make a mockery of everything. And even with the amphetamine use... that didn't cause players to have insane statistical jumps. It didn't cause their bodies to undergo extraordinary physical changes. They didn't break records because of taking "greenies".
But Imran can go ahead and ignore these facts and be a tool for the "BACK BACK BACK BOO YAAA" network while making excuses for Bonds, the biggest scumbag in baseball...To us, it is the BEAST.

@ Sava trying to explain things. Sorry Sava, try again. I don't care for the offensive blowout of the last few years. I'd rather watch baseball as it seemed to be in the 50s. *gasp* I prefer the pitcher's duel!
I wouldn't be surprised if Pujols was juicing either. He showed a very interesting rise in numbers after being drafted in the 13th round.
And, of course, you have no idea about OPS+, which adjusts itself for league stats. It is what we like to call a 'normalized' stat. And even if every player used steroids, I'm not I (or anyone sane) sees how that invalidates OPS. Especially since James used OBP and SLG while analyzing baseball in the 80s.
They didn't break records because of taking "greenies".
What are you nuts? Suddenly the career home run record falls by a guy using red juice, not too long later the single season SB record, and the career SB record not too long later. Cal Ripkin, Jr. begins his consecutive game streak. You have players, like Nolan Ryan, who pitch same as they did in their prime in the early-mid 40s.
Just because speed wasn't combined with intense strength training, smaller ballparks, and dilution of pitching talent doesn't mean it didn't help with the playing of baseball.
I got no problems with Bonds. He's just one of the long line of *******s in the game who'll end up in the HoF. I don't have a problem with Cap Anson, who most likely threw games, speed freaks who used the benefits of not being fatigued to set records, etc.
I enjoy Sava's tortured logic though. I'm defending Bonds because if he has been using steroids (which he has) then that messes up the numbers
. PS, it only affects the absolute numbers (which isn't the best measure because of different periods of the game), not that numbers normalized for league and park effects, which every number comparison of players should be.

Wow, Savita, displaying your depth of baseball knowledge again, I see.
Well said, Imran. One minor thing: wasn't the 1950s an era of high offense? It was the 60s that was weighted towards pitching (until they lowered the mound).
Sava, the argument that "stats suck!" is ludicrous if we're talking about baseball. Practically since its inception, baseball has been a statistical game. What do you think batting average is, a scouting report? It's a friggin' statistic. So are HRs, RBIs, etc.
OPS+ aims to be a more holistic stat, more representative of a player's ability. And it makes a helluva lot of sense.

wasn't the 1950s an era of high offense
It was an 'average' period all things considered. The 1920s and 30s were the highest offensive period in the game (even counting the 90s and 00s!). The 40s and 50s resulted in a cooling down of that offense. The 60s went the other way entirely (when a .301 batting average leads the league one year, you have a problem to rectify). The 70s and early 80s were probably average on the scale as well.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

This just in:
Matt Clement and Randy Johnson both suck. Manny Ramirez can hit. Melky Cabrera is pretty good for a 21-yr old rookie. Kyle Farnsworth likes to live on the edge.
Just when I think I've got Torre figured out, he surprises me. He put Melky at leadoff! It was a rather odd, and bold, move that shows trust in a rookie (something Torre is often criticized about). Wow. And it worked, too.
