Yeah, by then people want to see what you accomplished with it. The jerks!

I see it depends on your bank balance, not your ability, who gets the best education...

it is if they don't feel you will bring down the standard, that they allow you in but make you pay for it

Jon-I agree with you about the liberal arts education. That's why I applied to these schools. I'd also like to add though that math and science and the liberal arts are different ball games. State universities are better with math and science, but tend to be crappy with the liberal arts. Liberal arts schools are just the perfect environment for learning the things I want to learn about.

Rufus-I'm glad you're looking at Williams. If you or your daughter have any questions about it or the college process, send me an email (especially next year, while I'm going there, I'll know more). Having been through my senior year has made me a grizzled veteran in the whole thing. And thanks for the congrats.

And BTW, where do you and your wife teach?

And why is my post in bold?
"The first man who, having fenced off a plot of land, thought of saying, 'This is mine' and found people simple enough to believe him was the real founder of civil society. How many crimes, wars, murders, how many miseries and horrors might the human race had been spared by the one who, upon pulling up the stakes or filling in the ditch, had shouted to his fellow men: 'Beware of listening to this imposter; you are lost if you forget the fruits of the earth belong to all and that the earth belongs to no one." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
