Generally, as a society, you are not something I would want to aspire too. As individuals, you're a diverse bunch, as diverse as any.

America's politics are too dominated by people with money influencing things. way too much. Your history though is full of great people who have done many great things. From this century, I'd point out Theodor Roosvelt, FDR, Eisenhower as such examples.

In relation to the relationship to our country - you give us your stuff, and this makes our politics dependent on you, a thing that I resent very much. You meddle in our affairs constantly, and it certainly isn't in the interests of freedom, but good old cash. Also, you're arrogant about it, as if you're doing us a favor - which isn't true - you buy we sell, in this case, we're whoring out our regional policy for a quick fix.

    I am 21, from Israel.
Thanks Az Very insightful. I really like that this forum has people from so many different parts of the world. I am very appreciative of all the responses.

Doesn't the first follow from the second? You can't have a homogeneous collection of diverse individuals, can you?

what whaleboy said. A society can have many people enjoying different things on personal and recreational levels, but live together, and actually have most of their goals in common.

They were all Finns masquerading as Scots.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Am I the only person who thinks Polytubbies (or random people from the intarwebs in general) make up about the least representative sample you could find for any legitimate "research"? What type of nonfiction work is this for?
              Unbelievable!

'Tis hard to say Sandman, but I have been most fortunate, as so many Scots have been so helpful - just their nature I suppose.

You will just have to visit my site and find out Darius...I have received responses from people age 12- 71 and from 20 countries so far. Each person has had something of value to contribute. I can hardly say that this is a scientific poll...lol, but I am educated and entertained as I read through my email each day. I just added a new "Essay" page where I can post essays written by different people to provide more of an in-depth look at different countries. So if you anyone is interested in contributing to this section, let me know.

You Don't Bother. You Get Exactly What You Want. Why Are All The Words In Your Post Capitalized?

                        Seriously,
You never hear of it, but your ambassador feels he has the freedom to pressure our government, for example, he wanted Israel to purchase LPG from an American-owned venture ( in fact, operating as an agent of a private interest ).

Also, our foreign policy is basically "do what america wants as much as possible".

The capitalization is from OTBOT, not me (as is the bold).

And Az, here's the thing: you said it yourself - we give you stuff*,including diplomatic cover (how many vetos in the UN? How many times has the US been the only country to stick up for Israel?) and we expect that it gives us a say in your policies. No ****, sherlock. Don't want us to think we have a say? Fine, let's go our seperate ways. Frankly, I'm FINE with that. I also happen to believe peace with the Pals is more likely if we are removed from the equation.

Furthermore, as I'm sure you're aware, supporters of your nation meddle in our politics too. It's not one-way. Our foreign policy is heavily impacted by concern for Israel, and it is not without cost.

*I'm fully aware that it's not just altuism - our defense contractors do enjoy the ability to sell lots of toys to Israel (paid, in part, by US taxes).

Ok, scratch the "not just." It would be altruism if, and only if, we gave and didn't expect to receive. You ***** about us wanting to receive. Fine, no give, no receive. Works for me.
