Restraint? You guys'll do what you want and pressure other countries into doing what you want all because you are the superpower. You knock off nutcasses when it suits you and you prop up other ones when it suits you. I love you all as individuals but your system, government and the dose of Yay! America the country collectively suffers from is sometimes sickening, and you need to realise that realist foreign policy is dead.

I stopped reading after I read restriant and missed the whole historical thing. But the worlds a different place now, any superpower now would show more restraint than any other superpower in history. I mean Britian was a totally different kettle of fish back before they lost their position than america is now. Comparing yourself to a superpower in history is kinda like comparing a baby to an adult in a masturbation contest. But as for your statement no it ain't false. You're fully correct. I'd just prefer you used a different standard.

Maybe its to do with the fact that you guys are in this position that not many countries ever get too. And you use it to just look out for number one. You're position as number one is [probably] gonna decline as the years move on, and the only way you'll keep yourselves as an excellent footnote in history is if you guys worked on the UN. Of course the UNs no where near perfect as it is now but it is the future. America should realise this and put their all behind it. Leave a legacy worth leaving. Especially, as you say, you have the power to do so.

And I figure you're country only shows as much restraint as it does is that it doesn't wanna become the bad guy, and even though the image of america is a bunch of republican southerners who shout yeehaw and fire their colts into the air whilst doing a jig there are another whole bunch of you who wouldn't be impressed if america didn't show the restraint it did, hell alot of you aren't impressed with the restraint you show now. The only difference between a superpower in history and you guys now is public opinion. You have to listen to it now.

I'd say that realist FP is alive and well. It's neoconservatism (quite different from realist) that's (hopefully) toast. Of course, the operation we've been running in Iraq is a mish-mash of neocon and realist, with equally mishy-mashy results.

In america (though not just), realist is yeah. Though the whole dead thing was me being somewhat optimistic in my view. I kinda meant dead in a whole they should realise its not the best political ideology out there.
