    • Actually, my term paper on this course will be on light-induced electron transfer in biological systems, FWIW.

Errr...if you've seen that expression for t-dep pert derived then you will have also heard the mention that it assumes e-states are non-deg...

            • No. I'm not even that good at basic quantum and the hydrogen atom. I always thought that I could be if I concentrated hard enough. But I'm not sure about that. Is it the sort of thing that one gets if one puts in the requisite slogs (like surfing) or something that will always be a struggle...like err...skiing moguls.

grar. I think I remember something of the sort. Lemme look at my notes.
                  .
                  .
I don't see this assumption, but at this part, they generally talk about a single quantum number. I am not sure if that matters now, and I am also kinda tired.

I mean that I have not worked enough problems to really master the math and to get physical insights and comfort with the whole shroedinger thing. And then if you make it time depndant...sheesh!

                    • coming back to it after not really getting it in the first place 2 years ago sucks as well. :/

                      • single quantum number doesn't matter. you might be fine because your pert does not break degeneracy. not sure right now. also, your matrix element is not obvious to calculate.

However, since I'm amazing I carried it through exactly using full form of H w-f

                        got (sqrt(2))/81 = <2p0|z|1s>

Believe it or not. might have ****ed up...

                          • BTW, it must be wrong since all quantum hw problems have an answer of 1 or 0. It's a rule or something.
