As I see it we invaded and installed our own puppet that has little authority/power/control outside Kabul. Will we change that with time? You no doubt think yes. I can't help but imagine the Soviets had the same thoughts. I even remember similar stories from their time in Afghanistan (building roads, schools and generally "helping out").
Btw, did you hear the latest concern? Cdn soldiers turning detainees over to third parties that may or may not respect human rights - - - Cdn soldiers potentially guilty of war crimes.... This all thanks to our recently signed agreement with the Afghan government.
How many more "Canadian values" can we impart?
