According to Reuters, Bosnian Muslims regret that now that he's dead he won't be punished. Shheeeeeessshhhh! Doesn't Islam have its own concept of hell, or do they think that the Christian God is going to reward him?

Isn't killing infidels a good thing anymore? pfff, what's religion coming to these days.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

            Ehrmmm...where to start?

First: it's not uncommon in the case of deathpenalties carried through that the families of the victims do not find relief. I can thus very well understand that the victims of Milosevic find little comfort of him perishing away unconvicted.

Second: I (and many with me) have found it odd that the Muslim adjective was used for one party in the conflict but yet the other two main groups did not get called 'Orthodox' or 'Catholics' or whatever creed they adherred to.
Not to mentioned that many 'mixed' peopled suffered.

So unless you mean to say that your quote came from a Bosnian mullah and that all other non-croat victims in Bosnia actually are unconditionally happy with his death, I find your comment rather out of place.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                    Milosevic dead...

                    good...

                    now let's move on

I'm sick of this guy... I'm sick of hearing about him from everyone... I feel like I am stuck in the middle. It's like, from everyone Serbian I know, it's all "everything is a western conspiracy, etc..." and the opposing view, well obviously its "OMG SERBS ARE TEH NAZIS".

I don't know what to believe.

The things I hear from my family (including the ones who live in the old country), contradict what I hear from the media and stuff here.

The reports of deaths at certain locations during that conflict in the Balkans in the 90's seem dubious because the reports of the numbers of deaths exceed the population of the areas in question. And each time I read about one of those "atrocities" the death totals are always higher... it's always "2,000 dead" then "5,000 dead" then "10,000 dead". Then I read the population of the town was less than 1,000 people and they found a grave with only a few dozen... and it was all armed men.

So what am I supposed to believe here?

It was a war and the first casualty is truth.

All I know is, there was real genocide going on in Rwanda... Millions died. And the US didn't bomb anyone there.

But yet, NATO bombs the Serbs.

                    I don't give a **** about Milosevic. I'm glad he's dead.

Let's wait for the conspiracy theories coming out of this....

However, this planet is now a slightly better place without "Slobo". May his ass burn in hell.

I think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Of course Milosevic was a Serb nationalist... (although I've not met a Serbian who isn't a nationalist)... but Milosevic wasn't Hitler. He didn't advocate the extermination of anyone. He was a tough bastard who responded to terrorist attacks and attacks on the Serb civilian population the way any Serb leader would have. With overwhelming force.

Did he order the direct killing of civilians? I doubt it. If there was hard evidence to that fact, the trial would not have dragged on for this long. But then again, I'll never know.

You people are all kidding yourselves if you think any American leader or any *insert European country here* leader would not respond to a similar situation the same way if the civilian population was under direct assault by terrorists.

And yes, that's what was happening. That's the side of the story that isn't getting reported here.

With all the "oh I hope he burns in hell" crap that I see, are you guys comprehending that the KLA was a terrorist organization being supported by Al Qaeda's network and other Muhajadeen elements? The same thing happening in Iraq, the foreign fighters... that's what was happening in the Balkans.

Milosevic was responding to that. And no doubt, he responding with overwhelming force.... and no doubt, in war, civilians died.

I'm not excusing or saying any of it was right. It's painful for me because I'm not just Serbian... I'm only 25% Serbian... I'm also 25% Croat and 25% Macedonian. So the whole conflict in the Balkan region really hits close to home.

I have relatives on all sides of this, though most of my perspective is from the Serbian side because that's the side I mostly keep in touch with. I have relatives in the old country that we do talk to regularly. And all this stuff is a big deal with my family.

I'm not trying to defend anyone who commited any atrocities. If someone is responsible for killing civilians... **** them... they deserve to be punished. There are rules in war and they should be followed. But let's not ignore that this is a war... there are two sides to it, and let's not forget the other side, what was happening, what the Serbs were up against. And how we (America) would respond if the same thing were happening to us in our homeland.

That's all I have to say.

If someone wants to respond (intelligently) to my comments, I will be willing to talk. But I'm not going to respond to any trolls or anything. This is seriously a sensitive issue for me and I'm sick and tired of hearing all the bull****. Because there is a lot of it out there.

The Serbs fought against the Nazis. They resisted a genocide. And the people they fought against in the most recent conflict were the ones who collaborated with the Nazis. "Never again" is not something that the Jews just say.

So when people throw out things like "genocide" and "ethnic cleansing"... it's really offensive because these are the things the Serbs were fighting against, and now they are being accused of it when all they were doing was defending their own country... their land which has been theirs for hundreds of years.

Hopefully you guys can understand this point of view.

If not... well, I dunno what else to say then.

They can't understand, Sava, because the Western media is free and fair and and never covered the attrocities committed by the Croats and anti-Serbian Muslims, nor covered the Muslims that fought on the Yugoslav side, nor mentioned that the Bosnian president was in a Hitler-youth organization and wanted to set up a Taliban state in Bosnia, nor the vast numbers of attrocities committed by the KLA. They ignored the near-fascist constitution of Croatia.

They ignored the fact that Yugoslavia indebitted itself to build up the infrastructure of Slovenia and Croatia to build an export industry to help the whole country, and got stuck with the bill when those republics decided to split. They continue to ignore the enthic cleansing by everyone but the Serbs.

So no, no one's gonna understand anything but "ZOMG!!!111!! teh evil Slobo is dead!"
