  • Az this whole situation leaves the door open for men to be carless when it comes to having sex, If he has no worries of supporting a child that comes out of this sex then dont ya think lot of men would go around populating the earth skipping around like its nothing? Whether this guy was lied to is irrevelant, if he knows he doesnt want kids then it is his sole responisibility to cover his bases. JUst as it woud be for me. Men have a lot more power then ya think when it comes to children, maybe some ur not aware of i.e, after my three were born i wanted to tie my tubes well i needed my hubands permission to get this done. This also opens a can of worms for couples that were married and divorced with kids, will the husband or ex then be able to say i never wanted the kids she tricked me and get out of supporting those kids??

      A) Because that's not what's going to happen. Factually, he will use protection not to get STDs, and because women will demand him to, women will use birth control ( which is THEIR responsibility, as you'll agree)
B)Because women will STILL have the right to have an abortion, unless they want the baby. There is a variety of chemical means in the first Nobody is going to be populating the world anytime soon. As it stands NOW, women can go around "populating the world" as well.
C)In any case, I am not saying that he should have a complete freedom of choice, such as a woman would, but he should have a single opportunity to decide on such an issue.

Whether this guy was lied to is irrevelant, if he knows he doesnt want kids then it is his sole responisibility to cover his bases.

Why on earth so? That would be the equivalent of saying that if a woman knows SHE doesn't want kids, it's HER sole responsibility to cover her bases. Such a statement is terribly sexist, innit?

en have a lot more power then ya think when it comes to children, maybe some ur not aware of i.e, after my three were born i wanted to tie my tubes well i needed my hubands permission to get this done.

And this is completely parallel. It's the same thing with men and vasectomy, right?

This also opens a can of worms for couples that were married and divorced with kids, will the husband or ex then be able to say i never wanted the kids she tricked me and get out of supporting those kids??

As I said, completely not the point. I said a man should have a single opportunity to have a say in such a matter during pregnancy. You're attacking a strawman.

Men skipping out on the children they create is already an major problem in the United States. We have had to create special laws to force fathers to pay for their children in recent years. If we give them a legal out, we just go back to the bad old days.

        • Az it happens all the time that men are skipping on kids, please this is just a legal way to let them off the hook.
I said it would be my responsibility if i didnt want to have kids didnt I? I would not put anythign to chance if i can cover my own ass!!
3rd no men dont need the wifes permission tohave a vascetomy.
I dont know what a strawman is and i certainly wasnt attacking anyone. U are saying you want the guy to have a say.. Excatly what does he need to say?
All I said is he had a say in the begining, a choice to wear a condem and not leave anythign to chance. If the guy doesnt do this well dont expect any sympathy.
It would work the same way if were the female that didnt care to cover her own ass. I am a firm believer in the concept you wanna play you will have to pay some how or in some way.

But it's not a legal out. the decision is made before there even is a child, after all. as to fathers skipping out pay, it's disgusting, and it should be enforced strictly.

yes, but you're not required to do so by the legal framework. Men are. which is institutionalized sexism.

            and so is this.

But as I've said, this isn't the case. THERE IS a legal outing for women, such as a non-intrusive chemical termination of pregnancy at the first stages. If abortions were heavily regulated or restricted, I would agree - women have an 'unwanted burden' for 9 months, at least - men should be definetly forced to pay for it... this, however, isn't the case.

            • what other legal way does he need but to terminate his parental rights. Have no contact with said child this is a legal way out for fathers not wanting children. The obligation to help support the unwanted child is soley the responsibality of both parents. Woman cant say i dont want to pay child support if she gives the said kid to the father, this is my whole point. The man as a legal say i will terminate my rights and not be a part of that childs life.

Why are you so hung up on when the decision is made? The point is, this will be a legal out for men who right now must be forced to pay for their children. If given a legal out, their behavior will only get worse.

                  • The best solution would probably allow fathers to have an out of paying child support when there is clear deception on the part of the woman. It would cut down on the deception and women might be a bit more careful in terms of remembering to take the pills. Everybody wins.

I have to say women arent the only ones that canbe decietful. Men are just as decietful. But that is not the point. Birth control is not just the responsibilty of the woman. It is both peoples jobs to make sure some form is used if neither want children. I still belive your say and choice should be made before there is a pregnancy involved and if the wrong choice is made then why should either party be less responsible?

                            Not at all.

Nobody is saying that fathers should be released from responsibilities when their relationships break down and there are children involved.

What is being suggested is that men should be given a choice if they want to be fathers in the first place.

Like women getting abortions on demand?

Reproductive choice should be an option for both sexes.

If women choose to carry children that the fathers are absolved from, then more power too 'em.

As Mrs. T says, she had a choice way back when she had sex. She could have chosen not to have sex if she didn't want to end up knocked up with no man to help.

In this current situation, women are really the only ones that can be decietful. I don't know any woman that would just immediately buy a story about a guy not being able to have kids (entirely, not just a low sperm count or small urethra).

Guys base their decisions many times on whether the girl is on the pill. I have not used a condom and not pulled out because I trusted a friend of mine who said she was on the pill. There was no pregnancy that I know of, but I now know she did lie about not having a boyfriend (who she got married to last week). I realize it was pretty risky now, but at the time she had just seemed very honest and trustworthy. I probably would have put on the condoms beforehand, but she had just kinda stuck it in before I knew we were going all the way.
