This is the curse of the depth of Canadian talent. I think you will always have guys left behind that could potentially be impact players at this level.

But I wonder would Canada be deep enough to field a second team that would be competitive ?? It would have been interesting to see how a Canada 2 team would have fared.

Thats 15 forwards to pick from and you probably only want 8 or 9 from that list before adding some defensive specialists . you look pretty ok up front choosing from those-- oh and this is a 2 minute list so there may be some notables missed. Maybe even a Lemieux or Yzerman could have been convinced to come out if there wee two teams . . .

On D I find it harder after you take

IF I took more than a couple of minutes I could probably come up with a decent D but I actually think a Canada2 team would have been viable for this Olympics. They would be fine in goal-- You can go for the experienced guys or choose a fine younger goalie like Turco. Two good scoring lines wouldn't be an issue and I think I would try to fill up the remainder of the team with role players. My idea would be that the top two lines would KNOW they were the "go-to" guys.

On D . . . Phaneuf, Phillips and Boyle should be a good start but I would need to actually spend a few minutes to try to come up with some more guys.

Since it's not that physical and speed matters more than size you could make an argument for Francis Bouillon on D. He sure beats McCabe.

Nice job.. wasn't even close. Czechs == overrated!!!! They won only one game int his tourney, and that was Slovakia. Lost to the Swiss, Canada, Sweden, Finland... and never came close.

oh yeah, Canada beat our butts in curling... the 6th end was just devastating.

The Swedish ladies won the curling finals on the very last stone yesterday. That was Sweden's 5th gold, making this the best winter olympics for Sweden, ever.

And it's not over yet, now we will get at least silver in gentlemens* hockey, our best result since 1994, and this time with all the NHL stars present.

*But there are no gentlemen in a real hockey team, only mean bastards
