So no, legalization isn't a cure-all in-and-of-itself. Some women and men either can't be or refuse to be arsed to bother with any kind of legal regulation of the world's oldest trade.
You can't get them in Las Vegas. They're illegal there - street walking becomes necessary (especially in a city like, well, LAS VEGAS)

And brothels are illegal in Reno and 4 other counties, so they have to walk the street or advertise anyways.

      Come over to The Netherlands.
Prostitution has been legalized here. Now you can legally have paid sex with women from eastern europe who are sex-slaves against their wills because their pimps have bought them through human trade networks! Legalized sex with women against their will, what more can anybody want?

Thanks, but given I live here I already knew all that. That wasn't the point...

Hate to break it to you but income tax is SUPPOSED to be paid on all income including that which you gain illegally. technically a drug deal SHOULD declare all their income as well. Thats pretty old and well established law here in Canada

If you mean that a more organized trade would mean that the income is tracked better, well I agree.

But as you know, the "legal" trade is very limited geographically . The true test would be if there would be a street trade if there were legal brothels throughout the city

I'd bet that some shadow trade would continue but it would be greatly reduced

Its like alcohol. Hvae prohibition and there's bootlegginf everyone. maje booze freely available and there are much fewer smugglers.

The brothels near Reno ARE NOT that far from Reno. Please, my afternoon commute to work takes longer (30-45 minutes). Hell, the ones near Carson City are even closer to them and they've less traffic to deal with.

It is supposed to do that, but it doesn't. Several investigations have showed this.
It's as in other sectors of our economy. There are much illegal workers from Poland in our agricultural secion in example. As long as there are people who want to do things cheap or there are people in foreign countries who want to earn easy money, this will continue.

You'll be surprised to find out how many of the girls in prostition / pornography have been sexual abused as a child. Our 'greatest' pornstar, Kim Holland, in example has been abused and raped by several men in her family when she was a child.
Are they voluntairy going into prostition? Or are they just doing that because they have no normal view on sex?

Of course there are a lot of woman who do it with full knowledge, completely voluntairy.
But you may wonder if you visit a prostitute or watch porn:
                    1. is this girl doing this because she wants to do it or because she's forced to do it?
                    2. has this girl been raped or abused in the past? And am I factually taking advantage of her?
                    3. is this girl doing this because she really needs the money to help her poor family?

I'm 100% sure that people who watch porn or visit hookers on a regular base are responsible for this.
And since there's a huge market for porn, the abuse will continue.

Of course people don't like it I say this and will come with all kinds of excuses. But in the end it's just your penis that's talking. You do not want it because you're rational brain knows it's good an ok. You just it because you're horny and need some relief.

Well, if you get your relief, wonder: "Am I taking advantage of this girl and am I part of this world who's destroying her life". It doesn't matter if you watch her or do her.

In case you wonder, I don't pretent to be any better then any of you guys.

Exactly...think of the tax revenue! I think it should be legalised to allow better control. It is all well being sanctimonious over it and it's problems, but if it where legalised it would be much safer far all parties. And won't you think of Dis?

No really, since I'm not as cultured as all you freaks here , I dont remember in what country it has been implanted in. But I know that in some countries, prostitution is legalised and gouvernment controlled.
I think it's legal in most countries in Europe*

You're wrong. People can be in wheelchairs for any number of reasons, including arthritis, muscle diseases, heart failure, and others. You were thinking about paraplegics crippled by spinal cord injuries. In most of those cases there is an intact reflex arc between the genitalia and the spinal cord. Many of them can get an erection from appropriate stimulation of the genetal skin. In fact, I've known of paraplegic men who have sired children.

Oh, and prostitution IS abuse of women even if it's sanctioned by law and its victims protected from physical assault.
