You were talking about "all across the West", so I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding some prominent English-speaking, French-speaking or German-speaking news outlet (or influential group) that excuses religious violence.

The examples are legio, but ATM, I'm more concerned with the domestic side of it.
You could try and make a new friend by starting a correspondence with a certain guy named Jack Straw though, who coincidently is an elected MP from a constituency with a rather prominently sized Muslim community.Comment

I'm well aware that people do try to explain the violence, in part by saying something else than "Muslims are baby-eaters, and the embassy-burning shows how sik this religion is". I've seen Zoid putting this whole affair in a general context of frustration among the Muslims (that built up year after year), which is an analysis I agree with. I don't see how he excused the violence however.
