Nope. Like I said, a sack is capturing the building/city and destroying it afterwards. This was an "accidental" bombing.

I think that sacking generally implies looting. When armies or mobs sack a city or buildings it's common for it to be burned too, but it's the looting that compprises the act of sacking. I imagine that when the term was first coined someone had remarked that such and such city had been carried away in a sack, and eventually the term "sacking" came into being."I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

The rape comparison is a false analogy, though I think there's no denying that the woman you described in that hypothetical acted stupidly. Rape is an act of psychological cruelty and domination just as much as it is lustful, and the rapist usually delights in causing pain; mob violence is motivated by blind outrage and vengeance, and the mob is usually thinking of its victim only in the sense of "he'll pay for that!"
Rioting mobs are horrid, but they're not anywhere near as bad as rapists; this whole analogy feels like a crude ploy to demonize. Different kinds of perpetrators, different motives, different circumstances entirely.

Call it Darwinism. Join a riot that has chances of turning into flying crap, get KOd, and that's what happens. But yes, it is unfortunate. But I won't lose my sleep for the dude who died in one of the embassy burnings. Poetic justice. Idiot. No one will miss an idiot like that.
But the rest are more unfortunate cases. This is, however, something self generated. Are we supposed to start bending over because people are ritoing themselves to death? I don't think so. Some of you thinks so, I disagree with that. That's ok though, our kids can still play with each other. In da butt.

eh? what are the motives is of no concern to the comparison. I am talking about whether she was to blame for the rape, just because she excercised her rights in an enviroment full of idiots ( what sort or shape of idiots is meaningless in this case).
As to demonization, I don't think I need to waste any effort demonizing a bunch of hicks that think that blasphemy is a good reason to be physically violent.

Az, in your analogy, the woman is not the first, accidental victim. She is a feminist that goes to the neighbourhood where rapes often occur, knowing what can happen, but still wanting to demonstrate that it is her right to walk freely. Now she is still not to blame, but she's just plain dumb.
