If I recall in France it is illegal to deny the holocaust.
In the US the confederate flag has been banned in many forms, some states want to ban teaching about evolution etc...
The whole 'PC' culture...
The west bleating on about freedom of speech is basically hypocritical when taking those examples into consideration...
I find many of the "hate speach" regulations in Europe rediculous. At the Paradox forums (for games like Europa Universalis) you can't show Nazi symbols even if the purpose is not racist (say you are using it to mock Bush, or posting stuff on WW2) apparently because since the company is based in Sweden It would violate Swedish law if it let people post pictures of Nazi symbols. Also, use of the Stars and Bars flag is not illegal as far as I know. Europe is much more PC than the US, IMO.

Yeah, I do find it amusing to hear citizens of some European states, such as France or Germany, complaining about their lack of respect for freedom of the press or freedom of speech when they completely ban something like Holocaust Denial.
Not saying the violence is justified over it (it isn't), but it isn't like those states are really havens for freedom of speech.
And no, MOBIUS, there is no banning of confederate flags in the US. Just on state capitol buildings.

Well they would say that wouldn't they... To be honest i hope this is the beginning of the end of religion as a whole. Any sane person can see the amount of trouble that religion causes in the world, and that we would be far better off without it.
The only good religions do at the moment is charitable causes and that should not be based around the missionary agenda it is frequently now anyway.
