Asher, now that I have your attention, I must ask you something. About future prospects, I've been having these thoughts lately, strong feelings about switching sides. I'm thinking there's better money in information systems, designing them etc. I have found some satistfaction in database designing and databases in general, also other systems and designing. It doesn't have the street credit that SW engineering does but at least in here it has better opportunities, better money, definitely better future in here. I don't want to go work for some anonymous mobile company, doing Symbian for 2200 euros a month for 10 years to become MAYBE a project manager (maybe!) and get my 45k a year and no opporunities to advance. What do you think?

You can make some sweet money as a DBA (Ted Striker is a DBA, which also means you can get some sweet azz). If that's what you wanna do, go for it.

You can make lots of money both ways. If you're going with database stuff, then it sounds like it should be an easy choice.

Right.. it's something.. I mean I'm not struggling with these things, however it seems to me the database field is sneaking into my way, I seem to be very comfortable with it. And like you said, sweet pay is possible. Maybe I should. HMm.. This isn't something that I thought about a week ago. But it's something I finally have been able to say in public. I talked about it with one of the professors whose classes I attend and I kind of know him, so I said it to him also and he was all for it. This means my major would change, however, I might be able to do it flexibly and it would be just a matter of erasing and writing a new major, nothing would basically change. Except of course I'd be doing my thesis on it and candidate papers as well.

Oh well. We'll see.
