A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

        • I'm having trouble understanding what is going on with Iran. A few weeks ago it was announced that a final deal had been struck in which the Russians would do the uranium enrichment for them. I thought that having another nation doing the uranium enrichment would eliminater the weapons production, then the Iranians turn around and rant about hurting the west if sanctions are imposed. Is the deal with the Russians off again? Can Iran still develop nukes if someone else is enriching their uranium? Are the Russians actually helping them with their nuke program?

            • They have abundant reserves of uranium ore, IIRC.

To my knowledge, that deal was rejected by the US interestingly enough.

Politics is dynamic, even in a fundamentalist country like Iran. I suspect that there are different views in the leadership relative to dependence on the Russians vs. risk of conflict with the US.

                  • I haven't seen it, but it does seem Iran is trying to goad the US into war.

And why not, at any other time, America could beat teh crap out of Iran without much loss, but with our army next door, this is one of the few chances Iran has at really defeating the United States.

I am sure Iran hopes to have nukes before America leaves Iraq.
Wow, I haven't seen a running rant as retarded as yours in quite some time.

How does having 150,000 troops on the ground with a contigious ground border with the target hurt us, no matter where it is? Basically what Iraq gives us is an already taken beachhead.

The only reason why having a "hostile" Iraq hurts us now (and if you look at a map, most of Iraq is quite benign) now is we are wasting our time trying to be nice and conciliatory. If we went to war with Iran we could cut the bull**** and operate propery. You will notice there were no attacks on the building Marine force when they were preping to take Fulluja, as they were in proper battle array.

Any idea why? If Russia makes enriched uranium for them and they close down their experimental enrichment facilities would they be unable to make nukes, or could they make them using the enriched fuel made for tham by the Russians?

To add to this, the forces the US has in Iraq are one third what they deployed for Gulf War I. So it has at least 300,000 more it can deploy against Iran. US forces are in Afghanistan, which is a client state. The allied navy and airforce completely dominates sea and air. The allies control the Persian Gulf. Russia won't come to Iran's aid. The strategic position of the coalition for operations against Iran could not be better.

As noted earlier, just have to wait for a few more key signals like increased pizza deliveries to CentCom and the Pentagon.
