  • There were two shows last week? I missed one.

    No new 24 comments?
The show was meh. In fact, the whole season so far is meh. And Kiefer Sutherland was claiming before the season began that they tried really hard to reinvent the show. They obviously didn't try very hard. It looks like the 24 well is dry. It used to be entertaining crap, now its not really entertaining anymore. Frankly, I don't know why I'm watching the show anymore. Old habits die hard, I guess.

    • And CTUers continue to drop like flies. Two more into the dead pool, including someone who has been with us from the start. RIP, Tony. (And Lynn, but it was all his fault anyway, the jackass.)

      1. Jack Bauer (natch)
      2. Curtis Manning (I'm gonna have to start rotating the #2 slot if he doesn't get more stuff to do)
      3. Chloe O'Brian (loved her telling off creepy therapist guy)
      4. Christopher Henderson (even more miraculous recovery than those of Jack and, ironically, Tony)
      5. Bill Buchanan (angry dad no longer in charge, dammit)
      6. Audrey Raines (second straight week with nothing to do)
      7. Vladimir Bierko (tsk tsk, having to rely on some cheap Mandy stand-in who's not even as hot as she was)
      8. Mick Novick (taking some steps in the right direction)
      9. Martha Logan (just rip his balls off already, he ain't using 'em anyway)
      10. Aaron Pierce (not taking him off the list even if he was a no-show)
      11. Homeland Security Woman (yet another hardass boss who will somehow end up dying because of Jack)
      12. Vice President Gardner (yup, still an *******)
      ...
      2873. The Kim-threatening cougar
      2874. Nina's rotting corpse
2875. Therapist guy (shut the **** up before Jack rips your tongue out, *******)
2876. Kim Bauer (you're right, it is not Jack's fault that people die when you are around... it's yours stupid *****)
2877. President Charles Logan (we have a historic first--the first ever President afflicted with vaginitis)

      • yeah, I agree to some extent.

the lynn sequence was oh so predictable after what has happened to previous somewhat questionable CTU bosses, like chappel, mason.

I mean, come on guys, the redemption through honorable death is a bit cliched.

        • See, I liked the Mason death, because--come on--going out at the center of a nuclear blast? That is some bad ass ****. And, he had proven himself to be a decent boss over the last half of Season 1 and the first half of Season 2, if a bit morally squirrelly.

I also liked the Chapelle death, but for different reasons. He was never really morally squirelly at all, just a giant douchebag, and not terribly good at his job either. But the whole storyline of his death was very well done, especially in that it was never really played to be more than it was--a hopeless, desperate, meaningless sacrifice, which everyone understood, but it had to be made anyway because there were no other options.

Now, with this Lynn thing? Unlike Chapelle or Mason, I started out liking Lynn, but he got progressively worse. And while zapping CTU with the nerve gas was pretty ****ing badass, having Lynn sacrifice himself to save the survivors was a predictable copout.

We're down to Jack, Novick, Pierce, and Kim as the only characters still around from season one.

          • I'm going to wait on Tony's last rites for a bit, mostly because I refuse to believe they'd give such a badass character such an ignomious ending. The death was also much more ambiguously written than Edgar's was (though, if it is true, there's a nice bit of symmetry there with the end to season one).

We're down to Jack, Novick, Pierce, and Kim as the only characters still around from season one.
And unless the terrorists kidnap Kim on the way out of the city, she's gonna make it out of this season alive.

            • More's the pity.

An article in tomorrow's NY Times talks about Tony's death.

I can not wait for Jack to catch up to Henderson. Oh, man, it will be sweet. Kim walking out of his life, all of his close friends dead except Audrey and Chloe... Jack's got nothing left. There is going to be some righteous retribution exacted on Henderson (and, eventually, Bierko). After losing everything, one wonders how exactly Jack could continue on into another season of 24.

EDIT: And I suppose it is possible that Mandy could make (yet another) appearance this season, perhaps as the woman that Henderson spoke to on the phone when he tried to bomb Jack. That also could have been this Collette person, or even (yikes) this DHS muckity-muck.

It was the air conditioning system so it would lead me to believe outside. OH NO

                                but at least he died

oh yeah, wtf, they vented the gas, but like, where is the decontamination team to scrub the building down and stuff?

it's like... oh yeah, let's just vent it and everything is fine!!!

EXCUSE ME, BUT ISN'T THIS STUFF LIKE TOXIC AND PERHAPS ON LIKE EVERY SURFACE IN THE ****ING BUILDING?

seems like they can't just start working again

and this Vice President guy is a dumbass... yeah, let's put the troops in the city... and then the terrorists attack the city, killing all the troops... GOOD IDEA MORON
