                • I cannot believe how utterly idiotic and incompetent Logan is. Did it ever occur to him that if the terrorists had assassinated the Russian President on US soil with the US president helping them, that would mean war with Russia costing millions of lives and the complete collapse of every alliance since none of our allies would ever support us again? That would be far worse that a terrorist nerve gas attack on Americans. Heck, if the terrorists had released the nerve gas, the world would be sympathic with the US and be more likely to help us fight the terrorists. Furthermore, Logan just signed a cooperation treaty with the Russian. He should have honored that treaty and told the Russian president about the terrorist threat. He has a right to know that his life is in danger. And that way, the Russian President and US president could work together against the terrorists like the treaty was designed to do. Instead, Logan backstabs the Russian! What a dunce!

I love 24 but sometimes they make the characters act really really stupid (ie, Logan, Lynn) just to heighten suspense.

                  • Meh, I'm not bothered about the show making some people look stupid. Sure, I do think that Logan is a bit over the top in his cluelessness, but Lynn's situation is more believable.

Aside from that, I thought this week's ep was excellent. Probably one of the most tightly written eps of 24 ever, with an incredible dramatic last 15 minutes. I thought Peter Weller was particularly good as Jack's old boss and managed to do a great job of acting as if he was a good guy. Nice to see Jack finally up against a decent antagonist.

A few quibbles - why didn't the terrorists have more than one rocket? And what was the flamethrower for, apart from looking cool?

                      • Yes let's hope Weller isn't another bad guy of the week due to die next episode. He was entertaining.

After all the years watching I'm willing to accept some of the crap because the rest of the show makes up for it.

Curtis taking control was worth it for this episode.
A very good episode. without jack having to kill anybody.

                        • Logan has always been a spineless wimp; remember, the American people didn't elect him President, he took over after AF1 went down last season. Granted, not that I think that much of the American electorate...

                            • Well, Edgar's been deadweight for a while now, but I figured he'd just sort of fade into the background, not die in a big ****ing terrorist attack on CTU. Holy ****ing ****. Do we know what happened to Lynn?

                              1. Jack Bauer (that was cold-****ing-blooded, man, shooting the wife)
                              2. Curtis Manning (one can only assume he spent the second hour wrapping things up at the hospital)
                              3. Christopher Henderson (even more cold-blooded; goddamn)
                              4. Bill Buchanan (angry dad back in charge, the way it should be)
                              5. Audrey Raines (down only because she didn't do anything quite so cool this week)
                              6. Vladimir Bierko (I love how all these terrorist masterminds have contingency plots B through ZZ)
                              7. Aaron Pierce (go on and mack on the hot FLOTUS, Mike really doesn't care)
                              8. Martha Logan (anyone else hoping she was going to down the POTUS during their heart-to-heart?)
                              9. Tony Almeida (can he control his rage and not kill Henderson in the medical lockdown? I say yes)
                              10. Chloe O'Brian (why so low? No reason; everyone else was just awesomer this week)
                              11. Mike Novick (nice how Martha called him out; stop trying to be sneaky and crack some heads, goddammit)
                              12. Lynn McGill (knew that keycard thing was gonna bite him on the ass, but not quite like that)
                              13. Vice President Gardner (there's a fine line between "hardass" and "****ing imbecile")
                              ...
                              2873. The Kim-threatening cougar
                              2874. Nina's rotting corpse
2875. Kim's ex-therapist, now lover (dude, so not cool)
2876. Kim Bauer (around for all of 45 minutes before she's in mortal peril; yup, nice to have Kim back)
2876. President Charles Logan ("Yes, I was acting like the President." Oh, what a giant load.)
