Except for the fact in this case pretty most of the population of Pakistan inside AND outside of that area is pretty much outraged by what happened.


We don't even know who died there but what we do know is that a bunch of innocent people died and the guy that was supposed to be dead wasn't even there.

Let the airstrike on Toronto begin. Some guy might be there but if people die, hey, sh1t happens.

Yes they do! They do rely on the tribal militias but the Army is activley engaged in that area and we just made it way harder for them to operate there now.



This operation is the biggest f up on every level, practically, morally, strategically, and tactically.

Innocents are going to die in any war.

Would you rather not fight? If the US wants to pack up and leave Afghanistan, and not do anything that could affect innocents, please let us know.

If your government feels that leaving an enemy with safe bases just across a border is acceptable, Canada and the the rest of NATO should get out of Afghanistan. We have no desire to participate in another American self-mutilation where you cut your own balls off and let the enemy slaughter your troops from safe bases. Probably because they would be our troops being slaughtered.

We do know that several bodies were removed from the area before burial, if we can believe the press.

This whining about bombing the supposedly sovereign nation of Pakistan is getting out of hand.

It is a primary rule of international relations that if you fail to exercise de facto sovereignty over an area you lose many of the benefits that come with de jure sovereignty.

Either the Pakistanis can't or won't control their hinterland. If it's the former then it appears that NATO forces will have to do it for them. If it's the latter then they're committing an act of war by allowing their territory to be used as staging grounds for an attack against Afghan forces, NATO forces, Afghan civilians and civilians the world over.

That being said, you have to wonder about the tactics employed. In my opinion it would be far more acceptable to send in boots on the ground, who can both strike with greater lethality against intended targets and who can better avoid killing those with little or no military value. This needn't be a full-scale invasion force; it seems to me that this is what the West's special forces are supposed to be good at. If we're too afraid to use them in situations like this then what good are they?

I don't think the US, or the rest of NATO, wants to get into a ground war in Pakistan. Hense not sending ground troops there.

But it might happen if Mussharef can't keep his own house in order.
