Oh, I agree with you that more savvy Christian fundies who have a bigoted agenda have found more subtle ways to express their opposition to equal rights for gays. Won't argue with you on that point.

What Phelps does is illegal in Canada, and your funding them would probably be illegal too.

Phelps' Christianity is, at bottom, pretty much exactly like most people's Christianity. His interpretation of scripture is just a little more unorthodox, and his enthusiasm for spreading the Word a bit stronger.

It depends on which Christian denomination you're talking about.

And it also depends on which Christian demographic area of the world you're talking about, with different cultures having varying pratices of Christianity.

You can still be Christian and rub the two braincells togather and realise that sometimes (all times) natural disasters are the result of a complex geological or meterological system we still have a poor understanding of.

Some believe that. But again, anyone with two brain cells to rub togather can look at the AIDS numbers in America, and, say, South Africa and realise that the vast majority of AIDS victems are not gays.
