  • The victims in the other disasters you mention didn't get direct payouts. The money went to orgainizations dedicated to helping them. The 9/11 families received payment directly.

Why the direct payment? Why not compensate them through the usual channels, such as charities and insurance?

IMO, It was to stop the inevitable lawsuits and stop any embarassing details that may have emerged in the many subsequent trials.

    • Christ, you honestly believe politicians were going to react as if it wasn't an exceptional situation? They got problems enough behaving consistently even if you don't have several jumbos crashing into tall towers.

The examples were to point out you should expect consistency when public empathy is involved. Sometimes they care a lot, sometimes they care little and politicians react to that.

It's not my problem if you've chosen to ignore books, movies, and a whole community based around this theory. This stuff isn't on CNN or anything, but if you're posting in this thread you owe the rest of us to at least inform yourself a little.

There are probobly a thousand other "well prapared" conspiracy theories about this event alone. Apply that to other important eventst and, after we expand the FBI by a hundred times, it would spend all its resources in investigating the claims of shameless trolls.
Patroklos, please, link me to 1,000 well prepared conspiracy theories about 9/11. I'd be interested in seeing them, since you're so sure they're out there but this thread's topic is the only theory I have seen (opposed to the official story).

But as long as we're here, I'll give you a little. I never recommended the FBI devote a team to each nut's ideas, although you somehow attributed that to me. I guess I can see how a misunderstanding could give away that impression.

All I really wish is that the average man would at least open his mind to another way of looking at the story. (You don't have to believe a thing "9/11 Truth" movement, or anyone, tells you.) Obviously none of the "omfg tinfoil hats!!!11 haha" posters here can wrap their heads around that...

        • Its pretty easy, just go to Google and serch "9/11 Conspiracy," repeat in various search engines and 1000 becomes conservative.

Especially since a lousy flash video, which is what is presented in the OP, qualifies as a well prepared theory.

There is having an open mind, and then there is being a raving lunitic. This is not worthy of investigation, especially since it has been investigated, at nauseum.

OK City bombing victim's families didn't get checks. NOLA's Katrina victims haven't received checks. Why did the 9/11 victim's family's get fat checks? No one has received direct compensation before. AFAIK this payout is unique.

Maybe it was because the 9/11 victims were mostly from affluent families unlike OK City and NOLA. This would mean they would easily be able to afford to litigate. In fact, one of the requirements to receive the $2M payoff was to sign an agreement not to litigate.

              • Do you think the majority of the people who died in 9/11 were Wallstreet bigshots or janitors, secretaries, small buisness owners, civil servants, and mid grade military officers/NCOs?

Given that a condition for accepting the check was waiving any right to sue I don't see how this constitutes any sort of discovery of a sneaky secret ulterior motive. So what if the government was intent on preventing lawsuits? it was obvious that allowing lawsuits on such a vast scale could have had devastating economic consequences and a massive chilling effect on economic recovery. In the context of hush money the way the payout was structured was so transparent and obvious that it completely fails to serve as a means of silencing people who might know "the truth" because it was entirely possible to collect the check without ever agreeing to keep any secret of any kind.

                  • That's one way to look at it and I mostly agree with you, but I don't think it was to stave off an economic catastrophe. The cases would be in the courts for years, mitigating most of the economic impact. The avoidance of a huge class action suit ensures nothing embarassing to the airlines or government agencies will be made public.

I admit I don't know the economic class of the majority of the victims, but upper floor people usually make the most money. If you remember, there was a big stink about the wealthy people wanting more compensation than the menial workers.

I guess I have to spell out everything.

You're right. A slapped together Flash video is garbage.

Movies (like the one linked to earlier in this thread) and books (like the one by the French guy that started this whole mess) aren't.

I'm not asking you to change your mind about 9/11. That would be stupid (first off because I haven't changed mine). But too many people have ignored everything Serb and those less conspiratorious around him have posted and chanted "TINFOIL HAT CONSPIRACY NUT," which I guess is all they can fall back on when they're presented with something that actually questions their point of view.
