Are you ready for some FOOTBALL - Final Regular Season Week
Oh well, with the NFL these days, the Falcons will be 14-2 next year and then 2-14 the year after that. Though if you told me the offense was going to be better in both yards and points, I would have been excited! The defense, though, fell through. Though I am a bit dissapointed in Duckett, going from 5 ypc to 3.3. Perhaps Mora should get him involved in the game earlier. But the first thing is fix the defense... though it may be as easy as getting Edge Hartwell healthy through all 16 games, allowing Brooking to play strong side.
Congrats to the Bears, though I still don't know how they did it. I wish Lovie was a bit more confident in Orton... if he stayed, the Falcons may have had a chance in that game.. but with Grossman... forget it. He was on fire coming into the game.
Did I just leave and the Colts dropped TWO straight (though I guess the second one doesn't count)?! WTF! Though Seattle looks impressive, especially Alexander. That man is ridiculous.
And the Steelers seem to be on a roll!
I'm excited to see the AFC playoffs, the Colts, Broncoes, Steelers, Pats, Cincy (though HOW did they lose to the Bills?) all have good chances. I don't know who is getting out of that one alive.

Did you see that your man Vick made the probowl again? Don't ask me how, cause I can think of at least 3 other QB's that should have made it ahead of him. Speaking of your obsession with running QB's, I jost got a "History of the Chicago Bears" DVD for christmas and I think you should do a little studing on a former Bear QB named Bobby Douglas. He hold the single season rushing record for QBs at nearly 960. Why isn't he in the HOF????

I'm glad he did. Especially in the NFC, which its QB stock depleted horrible this year, he's a worthy edition.

Did he lead his team to the playoffs? No... that one year, and he only ran for over that many yards once, the Bears were 4-9-1. The next year, where he ran for 525 yards they went 3-11. In fact, he NEVER made the playoffs, and never started for a team with a winning record. Though he did through 12 passes for the 78 Green Bay Packers who went 8-7-1!

That's my point about running QBs.... A QB should primarily throw (or hand off), not run. That is what RBs are for! If Vick wants to run so damn much, let him be a RB!!!
It's a stupid point is what it is. The only think Vick and Douglass have in common is that they run well (at least Douglass did for two seasons). Douglass has none of Vick's leadership ability or presense, which has served the Falcons very well in the 3 years Vick has been starter.
I think the Falcons will take a QB that runs a bit for the record they've complied with him under center. Interestingly enough, this year he ran for substantially less yards than he did last year or 2 years before that when he led the Falcons to the playoffs. I think that has been one of Mora's failings this year. While improving his passing, Vick hasn't done his creative runs nearly as much.
Furthermore, what about QBs who can run and throw?! That is the plan for Vick. Cunningham once ran for 900+ yards and threw for ~3,500 yards. Now he wasn't the leader that Vick was, and didn't have any running back help (Cunningham was the leading rusher in 1990.. Heath Sherman was second with a bit over 680 yards), but Vick has that in place and has gone farther than Cunningham ever did with Philly. When the passing game starts clicking, he'll be a a great dual threat, and he better run as well as pass to keep defenses on their toes.

IF it ever starts clicking... haven't seen it yet.
I'd assume games of 95+ passer ratings, of which he had 3 in a row this year, means the passing game was clicking. If not, your expectations are incredibly high...

REMEMBER, this is a team that STARTED Dez White for over half the season.

If you wanted to be fair, which I know has never been your aim, you may have wanted to consider Vick's rushing yardage.
Oh, and for all the bleating about Manning getting snubed, his passer rating is ONE point higher than Vick's. 75.1 compared to 74.1. Sure he's got 3500 passing yards, but that happens when you have that many passing attempts. Brunell and Bledsoe have cases, but neither where, IMO, valuable to their squads as Vick was to Atlanta, especially when you consider the reciveing core. Santana Moss or Keyshawn Johnson or Terry Glenn would instantly bump Vick's numbers up. OTOH, Delhomme also made the squad over both, even though his numbers are less and, frankly, Bledsoe or Brunell meant more to their teams than Delhomme did to his.
Oh, and before blaming the fans (who only make 1/3rd of the vote), their leader was Eli Manning in the NFC. It was the players (who had 2/3rd of the vote) who ended up making sure Vick got in.
And which player do you think most people want to see? Bledsoe and Brunnell aren't really compelling players, especially in an NFL Pro-Bowl setting.
