  • But that's in SE London! I have to catch a bus home from Oxford at 1ish on Sunday afternoon.

    • Anthony would have you believe it's Kent

      • Where I live is Kent. Where you live is where London and Kent collide.

          • I live less than a mile from country lanes, and mile after mile of farmlands.

Hell you even got lost in the countryside hedgerows trying to find one of the local pubs.

            • But that was probably because it does not appear in the London A-Z, but does in the Kent A-Z

              • Erith is cut in half by the London A-Z...quite franky Erith should be cut in half

                • So who else can I stay with then? That's not a no, PH, but I'd prefer to blag somewhere in Oxford than have to leave the party early and return on a train the next day just to catch the bus again.

Thanks Drogue - should I bring my laptop and Civ 2/MGE/ToT/SMAC/Civ 3/any other games?

                      • I'm not sure how we'd connect it for MP, unless you have a crossover cable? I have a PC in my room (Civ2, SMAC/X, UT2004) and there is the college computer room - however I've yet to find if we're allowed to install things onto them - they're intended for work. I can ask, though.

I'd say bring it and I'll try and find a crossover cable, if you don't have one

                        • I don't have one I'm afraid. It's a Dell Inspiron 5150 if that helps you at all.
I remember playing Command & Conquer in the student halls' computer room, but the only reason we could do that is because some of them weren't networked (I'm sure the admins would have spotted it pretty quickly had we tried to instal stuff onto networked machines. ).

I doubt anyone was expecting me to post any update on the issue on my part. Not to mention did anyone even remember there was a meetup coming up...

As it seems now, taken how my level of employment has improved (plain English: I have work now) and taken how I'm supposed to be preparing for the university application exams of this spring/summer and it takes time... yeah, yeah, good excuses and alike. Let's just admit that right now the sudden improvement of the daily financies have made it possible to throw away cash at some Wharfedale speakers, which means they lure me more than moving my rump in the direction of England. I would be happy to attend, but the money issues aside, lack of time is my main reason for having to abstain.

If I would have come this time around, I would only have attended the meetup, as right now not really into touring around England (have been 3 times before and been to several other cities than London, but of course there's plenty left to see, like Snowdonia in Wales), despite that's something I certainly intend to do later on some day. However this would warrant more time, planning and, indeed, more bucks to spend.

Well, I hope this meeting will be great and those who attend it, enjoy it. Maybe better luck next time - or at least soon hopefully.

                            • Sorry to hear that Ras, but hopefully you can make it across another time.
Have you tried the Lake District and the Highlands yet? If you fancy Snowdonia, and are pining for the fjords more Finnish territories, then they're definitely worth a go. All right, I don't know what Tampere is like, but am willing to bet it's better to visit than Tampa.
