    Quoted for truth! I had a philosophy lecture that was rather interesting, but it was 9 to 12 am so the first half of it was spent dozing off and the second trying to keep awake. Most of the polisci lectures are after noon, which fits my circardian rhythm oh so perfectly.

      Nordic History

      This course examines the history of Northern Europe from the 16th century to the present, with particular attention to nation-building, indigenous populations, women, and the rise of the welfare state.
      History of Science

      This course will examine various themes in this history of ideas. Topics might include major intellectual developments such as the scientific revolution, the Enlightenment or modernism; or the influence of ideas on historical events such as the American and French revolutions may be examined; or particular movements, schools of thought or seminal thinkers may be the focus of the course.

        History of science sounds like fluff course. Especially since they don't even know what they are going to be teaching about yet... I can tell because they use words such as "various", "might", "or", etc... sounds like a good class.

            Not fluff at all. There are so many things they can cover, which makes it difficult to fit into a semester. I've taken enough history of science courses to know that this is going to be an awesome course.

            I read nordic history, and this is what I think.

            16th century
            nationbuilding.
            women
            indigenous peoples
            welfare state.

                        We've only got one - the Sámi - unless they're counting the Finnish-speaking minorities in northern Sweden and Finland, they're, well, Evil Finns.
