"Well, I ain't seeing the movie."

Why? Too British? Too smarmy (redund.?)? Not testicular enough? All of the above?

I loved the books and I can't wait to see it. It looks great, even if Aslan has been neutered.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Not sure I'll see it. I have a strict minimum testicle quota for my movies.

Oh, and I've never read the book and have no interest in it. But that's all secondary.

          1) I don't like the over-commercialization.

          2) We all know that Aslan is meant to represent Jesus. And as a Christian, I don't need to watch a movie that depicts my God as a computer generated lion in order to have faith.
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Are there non-Christians that do need to see their God depicted as a computer generated lion to have faith?

Looks like a watchable movie, don't remember much of the book.

I don't look for God in a movie, so I could care less how Aslan is interpreted.

Funny article, in that "I can't believe they gave this bitter extremist space to rant in a major newspaper" kind of way.

To expand on the christian theme for a minute, maybe the reason for not giving Aslans testicles is the same as not depicting Jesus's old hose so to speak. It's consided a little sacrilegious to depict such a down to earth feature on someone considered holy. But it's also a lie and a misguiding creation of what would be considered god's creation, so why isn't that sacriligeous?
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

Before he started ranting, he did have some good things to say about the movie:

This new Disney film is a remarkably faithful rendition of the book - faithful in both senses. It is beautiful to look at and wonderfully acted. The four English children and their world are all authentically CS Lewis olde England. But from its opening scenes of the bombing of their Finchley home in the blitz and the tear-jerking evacuation from their mother in a (spotlessly clean) steam train, there is an emotional undertow to this film that tugs on the heart-strings from the first frames.
                        Sounds good to me.

That rant has some great stuff in it. Among the best:

Of all the elements of Christianity, the most repugnant is the notion of the Christ who took our sins upon himself and sacrificed his body in agony to save our souls.
