Again, I'm not sure where I said or implied most Republicans are corporate whores while all or most Democrats are never guilty of the same thing.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

So then why do we have the term, "oral sex?" That is a flawed term then?

Sexual harassement violates employment laws but by all accounts Monica set out to have sex with the President. It is hard to sexually harass the willing.

        • this thread is so typical that it would be amusing if it weren't so tragic.

having sex with a collegue/subordinate at work will get you fired.

telling lies at your work and getting someone killed will get you in jail.

and still our southern friends don't seem to be able to see the difference if applied to the US president.

          • I find it sad that Clinton almost got impeached for getting a blowjob, while Shrub commits war crimes, and gets praised for "decisive leadership on the War on Terrah"

The way this country is degenerating is just surreal.

              In all fairness:

*Those were different times. Clinton ruled over readily apparent peace and prosperity, so it was possible to make a big deal over oral sex and similar nonsense. It was still nonsense, of course, but fear does strange things to people.
*Key word: ALMOST. Then, there was sizable Democratic opposition in Congress. There is considerable public sentiment against Bush now (what's his latest approval rating again?), and I know the Washington Post at least has published a clear editorial condemning the torture-boosting, but it's all ineffectual due to the stranglehold the GOP has on the Federal government. Until the 2006 elections flush out Congress (assuming they do), we're stuck.
*The Democratic party at the moment appears to be stunningly incompetent. Which is not to say that the GOP has shown genius either. But the only thing more absurd than an American leader openly allowing the use of torture is an opposition party which lets him get away with it for a good while, and even allows him to be reelected by nominating a cardboard cutout of a candidate as an alternative.

I freely admit that the situation at the moment is obscene, but if the opposition can't do anything but whine and play victim it looks to stay that way. And sadly, you're not alone. The Republicans are worse than the Democrats, but damn it all, the Democrats know better. Or at least I think they do.
