Apparently he was allowed to bail on the contract early because of 'family issues' back in Aus - though it was widely reported he is joining Western Force as you say.

Ulster are doing okay - third in the Cletic league right now. Early days in Europe - won one and lost one - but I think they will struggle to progress past Biarritz and Sarries.

Looking up recent Ulster news I would guess Plank is quite happy. The lad who started the season at lock alongside him got banned last month after a random drugs test showed traces of cannabis.

        Nice one

Moody - nine week ban ending just before six nations starts.

Tuilagi - six week ban making him available for some crucial European games for Tigers.

        Interesting bans?

And, on the AWOL Tamerlin's behalf:

Absolutely - I reckon a SANZAR panel sat for them by mistake.

It might include actual figures for upgrades at Eden Park and in Auckland but I don't think it's Auckland that presents the problem. The bigger question was over some of the others. These may also be in the process of being upgraded but to what capacity?
Somehow I tend to think that, if the only figure stated was 7000 for Eden Park, that the other grounds (which probably need them more) would be getting lesser upgrades?
It looked to me like there facts on the fact sheet. But to get to your point, yes, the grounds will struggle. There is talk that The House of Pain will be sold to a trust for a full scale re-development, but actual capacity hasn't been proposed yet. There is no room for the Cake Tin to expand. I'm not sure on the others except of course for Eden Park.

Caligastia - on ya mate! Never will our beloved Lancaster Park be known by that piss poor name! It's only the media that calls it J*** Stadium.

All this talk of Eddie Jones exiting rugby with a boot mark on his arse. Everything I read about this guy marks him out to be some sort or uber wind up merchant. He is a baiter extraordinaire and a provocateur par excellence. With his permanent grin, crazy eyes, thatch of missing hair, and all that percentages talk, he rates highly in my book.

And if he gets the flick, he's probably straight off to Japan to coach. Probably their national team. He's at least half-Japanese, married to a Japanese, and spends a lot of time there. Part of his problem is a very strong, very demanding personality that doesn't sit well with delegation. Or, if he does delegate, his demands are high. Which is as it should be, but apparently he unloads when things go wrong, making for less-than-harmonious relations. I'd keep him. He's proved time and again that he can coach. He's had that team - to use Havak's term - punching above its weight. Replacing the coach doesn't solve the team's fundamental problem - the pack is sub-standard.

Rugby has been a bit over-commercialized. I don't buy rugby jerseys any more because of the huge ads they have plastered across them. And All Black jerseys being made by Adidas instead of Canterbury still seems wrong somehow.

Hmmm. Well I guess that narrows down the list of eligible cricket coaches then doesn't it?

Credit where it is due though – Graham has addressed a weakness the ABs had (the pack) and made it a strength. Fair play to him for that. He can still be a **** at times – the training ground filming nonsense proved that. RFU ‘spies’ my **** Graham.
Personally I think he was right on the money about those so-called journalists. Such scheming machinations could have come only from the brilliant mind of Andy Robinson!

I'm sure Tamerlin would agree with me if he were here so on his behalf I'll agree with me for him.

I reckon the Australian coach is in with a shout – good end to the year.

Anyway cricket is a banned subject for me again now.

Absolutely – his rapier like intelligence must be responsible.

                        Nice cameo from Tamerlin too.

This one for Finbar – check out Pat Howards comments on the BBC sport website. Another salvo in club versus country…

Yes, well. Poor Patrick comes out of it sounding like a nong. Taking his argument to its illogical conclusion - if a player were suspended in club rugby, the suspension shouldn't apply to Test matches. A suspension is from all rugby. Them's the bleeding obvious, immensely logical rules. L. Moody knew the rules. The fault isn't the system, Patrick, it's L. Moody's.

OTOH, Patrick's point about suspension for matches in lieu of time is a good one. We've talked about it here before. But, Patrick, the matches would be all matches. Nong.

What did you make of his other speech about reffing the breakdown in English club rugby?

VERY LATE EDIT. Apparently "overseas reports" are saying that Eddie is gone. The ARU is issuing a statement about his future Friday morning Oz time. Sounds ominous. Oh well, I'll watch with interest as his replacement plucks a competitive pack from midair.

                            Well, I guess it's now official ...

Nothing on a replacement yet as they're apparently waiting until February?

What does a girlie know about the breakdown?

He may have a point - perhaps UK sides do commit too many players - but it's partially down to the refereeing here as we tend to tolerate a lot more competition for the ball at the breakdown.

What did you make of the fact that Patrick has also said the English Premiership is better preperation for test rugby than Super 12 (soon to be 14)? He has played both of course which puts him in a better situation to comment than some of us - although I am sure my friends will pop in with a point about who the number one side in the world is (personally I think S12 has had very little to do with that - but there you go).

Feel sorry for Eddie - although not too sorry. He never worried about the pack in 2001-2003 at a time when internationals refs were completely immasculating the scrum in rugby did he?

I suspect that Patrick is right in terms of the set pieces. I don't think many would disagree. OTOH, S12 (now 14) is probably better practice behind the pack. The fact of the matter is that the ABs are currently doing both bits pretty well, which, I think, on balance, has next to nothing to do with their S12 (now 14) heritage. On song, they play pretty much the same sort of rugby - very strong, very mobile, very good skills - their better teams played well before S12 was invented.

Re Eddie. Will someone please wake me up when the new coach, whomever it is, produces a quality pack out of thin air? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Oh, and apparently the players aren't happy. Interesting times ahead.
