I've always thought the Bush was a highly intelligent sociopathic master manipulator who uses an image of a an 'average joe' and the simple religion of the people to control the proles.

But any Little Caesar eventually runs the greatest risk: believing your own propaganda.

Look at Hitler or Stalin, or Kurt Cobain: The moment you start believing your own BS, it's over.

Hopefully Bush won't hurt too many people as he Hindenburgs.

If any of it (more than what we already knew, he's not the sharpest crayon in the box) is true, then it's that he's drinking again. It certainly makes sense: the administration is in the crapper, even Republicans are starting to slowly realize he's not really that great a leader, he's under a lot of stress since he may not be trusting out as much Presidential duties to helpers that he once did, and he never took a real program to combat alcoholism. He just became a "born again Christian" and claimed to have spontaneously quit.

(IIRC, there was proof of him drinking at an event after the timeframe he said he quit, like a wedding or something--does anyone remember about this?)

As for worries about a nuclear holocaust: At the end of Nixon's term, wasn't the military guy in charge of actually launching The Sh!t (after Tricky Dick called him with the BRIEFCASE CODES) instructed to not comply with any such requests from the President?

Supposedly Bush blames Cheney for the missteps in Iraq and has cut Cheney out of the decision making process. Also he used to rely on Karl Rove for most of his policy positions but since Rove continues to be in legal trouble for the CIA leak Rove is also been pushed out of the inner click. Those are both good things from the stand point that Bush has learned who the past mistake makers have been.

The bad part is he's withdrawn and continues to see anyone who offers alternative view points as being disloyal so Bush continues to be surrounded by an ever smaller group of yes-men. Still, it is nice to know Bush has figured out who gives bum advice. Fiveyears to late is better then never.

What are you talking about? Word on the street is that Rove is in the clear on the Plame business and is now back in the saddle. Supposedly he's masterminding the newly begun Republican pushback on the "Bush lied!" meme.
