Does any part of the plan have to do with fear of homosexuals or terrorists?

What are you talking about? Word on the street is that Rove is in the clear on the Plame business and is now back in the saddle. Supposedly he's masterminding the newly begun Republican pushback on the "Bush lied!" meme.
Check the Rep. pushback thread. WaPo article reports Woodward got his info from a not-Libby administration official. Rove and Cheney are good candidates, though Rove is the more likely of the two, and this doesn't discount the possibility of a lower-level WH official.

By most reports Rove, like Cheney, continue to be in the dog house and are no longer part of Bush's inner sanctum. That doesn't mean they aren't still part of the party but it does mean they no longer have Bush's ear like they used to.

            Bush Sr. A navy man.

really he wasn't that bad. He just couldn't learn how to cut spending (defense was very bloated at the time- he had plenty of room to cut) instead of raising taxes.

Thankfully he can't actually "press the button" without the ok of one of the other members of the national command authority. The other members are the vice president and the secretary of defense....

Rumsfeld is just mean, not evil. It's Cheney I'd be worried about. He punches puppies in the face. Punches them hard in the face...

It can't be easy on Shrub that the Republicans in the senate keep voting against his foreign policy - get the hell out of Iraq; Provide legal counsel to Guantamano detainees...

The WT is complex that way. It used to be a Paleocon paper, under De Borchgrave (sp?) Pat Buchanan was a regular columnist. Today the editorial page and (to a great extent) the news pages lean neocon - some of the columnists they publish, like Frank Gaffney, are among those so hardline its difficult to consider them part of the same movement as Bill Kristol. But they still publish paleocon leaning columnists as well. And of course the more moderate neocons at the Weekly Standard are cool to Bush these days as well (they tend to be McCain fans) And of course the hard fundie right is trying to figure out whether or not to forgive Bush for the Meiers nomination. So even if the agenda IS political, and IS right wing, its not clear its particularly credible.

Thats not what they actually voted. They asked for him to clarify the strategy, and set targets that the admin could be held accountable for. The far right has interpreted it as the GOP senators calling for withdrawl - to me that just shows the ideological fog the far right is living in.

Im not sure Rove is as far in the doghouse as Cheney.

1 cause Rove was in the doghouse on the legal issues, and he may be in the clear on that. But more because Cheneys influence on foreign policy steps on the toes of Condi Rice, whos vigourously fighting for her turf, and has more clout with Bush than Powell ever had. She also has allies in Negroponte and Hadley.

I think Bush sr has every right to be disappointed in his son.

Bush sr was an evil capitalist pig, but at least he had some semblance of rationality and realized that he couldn't just get what he wanted by throwing tantrums.

In other words he was somewhat of a diplomat. Suge Knight is more of a diplomat than any of the current crew.
