To my knowledge the current calender was invented long before to Protestant reformation.

Vast numbers of German Americans fought on the American side in WW2. Few if any problems occured. The internment of the Japanese was 75% racism and 25% legal technicality. Due to racist reasons east Asians, such as Japanese, couldn't become citizens and so were technically enemy aliens when war broke out. All sides interned enemy aliens during the war though the US is some what unique in that it had legal osticals put in place to prevent Asians from becoming citizens thus automatically making them enemy aliens.

It's too bad that your state always overthrows any "Democratic socialism" you salute to. So either you are a lier or you don't share the values of your state (not govermnent, but state).
I don't share the values of my f*cked up, consumerist society. And how is the governemnt different from the State? They are different words for the same thing.

We socialists need to start having fresh ideas for the new globalized world, not some rehash of 150 year old ideas that made sense back when most jobs in the West were blue collar manual labor, but are worthless now.

                    I don't recall ever endorsing a socialist.

                        Nope, 1582.

In fact the need for calendar reform was determined at the Council of Trent (the council that lets you go CRC in EU2) Thats why Protestants were slow to adopt - Britain and its colonies didnt adopt till the 1750s. Which is George Washington wasnt born on George Washington's birthday

The average joe enjoying luxuries is one thing, the outright, purposeful wastefulness, aka planned obselecence; and crap like charging a lot more for something just because it has a certain designer label, even if it is not higher in quallity; is what sickens me. It is hard to have fun with extra cash if you're wasting it on our society's obbsesion of "keeping up with the Joneses"

It was certainly wrong to intern them - but AFAIK the conditions were not inhumane.

                              Citation please.

Sen Daniel K Inouye, I think.
                              Yes, I think it's him.
U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye, a member of the 442nd, gave an arm for his country in World War II and won the Distinguished Service Cross, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. Yet on his way back to Hawaii, he walked into a barbershop in San Francisco for a haircut. The barber refused to serve him because he was a "Jap."

In fact, Japanese born Americans in Hawaii were not interned either - the internment was primarily of Japanese Americans in California.
Japanese born Americans in Hawaii were not interned, because it would have collapsed entire Hawaiin economy.
i doubt that, as Inouye lived in Hawaii, and the Hawain Japanese were not interned. California Japanese also joined the US army, and their families WERE interned.
And the ones who protested being thrown in jails of course.

I bet if we compare the number of people who fleed from Cuba after Castro took power with number of people who stayed, the comparison wouldn't be in favour of the first.
It's odd how every Cuban I know universally denounces Castro as a villain, yet communism is so stinking wonderful.
Again, you live in US. Ask real Cubans what they think about him.
I can't help but feel that those who espouse communism are the ones who haven't lived under it.
I was born in the USSR. And personally I live better now than 20 years ago, but most of the Russians don't.
