Yep. With Boisclair still in the lead and 10 days to go, the gloves may come off soon.
I expect anonymous PQ members unafiliated with any of the candidates and concerned only with the good of the party to come out of the shadows and bring this back in the spotlight any day now.
You may not know about it, but Parizeau had managed to gather and block a sufficient amount of money to avoid the C$ going down the first few days after the referendum. The idea was that if the $ kept stable for a few days, this would limit movements of panic afterward.
But of course, he was only a Ph.D from the London School of Economics. Economy is only a soft science.
If Quebec separates, then Canada dies because the essence of Canada is the two solitudes.
What would Canadians ***** about if Quebec left?
What's more scary is that history tells us that separatism leads to violence. Someone fires the first shot, then someone retaliates, and someone else retaliates.
It's Baltimore. There were 275 murders in a city of 650 000 people here last year. The bars have to shut at 2 am, but most close by 1. Heroin and cocaine use are rampant. Many of the city's dwellings are boarded up due to vacancy. There was a homicide not 20 meters from my doorstep. Beer can only be sold in liquor stores, which cannot open on Sunday.
Ack! Baltimore's pretty rough, huh? I've never been, except flying into BWI to get to a friend's place near D.C.
I didn't know Maryland had blue laws (the no liquor on Sunday thing). Just like Connecticut. Stuck in the past. CT recently took a small step for man, though: we extended the selling hours Mon-Sat to 9pm (from 8)! Woohoo, yeah, progress!

Separatism is a recipie for disaster.
Oh come on, Quebec is of French descent and they couldn't even be arsed to fight in the World Wars.
Any fighting would be over pretty quickly.
