  • If Quebec seperates, the Habs should move to the bustling future metropolis of Fort McMurray.

    • Hmmmmm..... I don't think the NHL would approve of that.

      • Give it 20 years and it'd be a successful NHL franchise.

You don't get much more Canadian than the beer-chugging oil workers.

17% of the people there are Newfies.

It's Baltimore. There were 275 murders in a city of 650 000 people here last year. The bars have to shut at 2 am, but most close by 1. Heroin and cocaine use are rampant. Many of the city's dwellings are boarded up due to vacancy. There was a homicide not 20 meters from my doorstep. Beer can only be sold in liquor stores, which cannot open on Sunday. The "coolest" club around compares unfavourably with the ****ing Dome.

          Other than that, everything's fine.

            • I've only been to the Dome twice. Other than the mandatory frisking and 16 year-old tramps (who, incidentally are about 1/2 as hot as the real Saint-Laurent tramps, yet are about 38 times hotter than the Baltimore tramps) and the 10$ cover and the 5$ beer and the ****ty music it was fine...

                  I've been.

Scenary is nice, but didn't think the town was anything special. But only spent a week, so maybe thats why.

Of all the major Canadian cities i've been to, its either 2nd or 3rd for me. Ottawa would be the other, cuz its got the Quebec flavor being so close and all.

                    • I could do without Quebec; except for one thing.

If they go, what are our chances of putting together a world championship hockey team?

                          • On a more serious note, if ever there is another referendum, the PQ is risking to be at a serious disadvantage.

I doubt that there's more to Boisclair than his looks, and Marois is anything but an inspiring figure. In all cases, both seem to lack the intellectual stature of Parizeau, or the charisma of Lévesque.

I agree. Boisclair was seriously hurt by the drug use accusations, but more than that he just didn't handle the heat well. He was visibly shaken and still hasn't recovered from it IMO. Add to this that the heat came from within his own party: imagine what it will be like in an election.

                              • Have you noticed though that the prominent figures have kept quiet about this? It's probably because knowing they have a shot at leadership, they can't afford to talk so lowly of someone they'd have to give a ministry to.

How they stir up partisans behind closed doors is another matter, obviously.
