I think the federal resistence to seperation is more because of this incredible nuisance it would be to work out, especially when you consider the high likelyhood of them eventually rejoining down the road. (Once they realize how much they just screwed themselves.)

They'd want to join the EU rather than rejoin Canada or the US.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

NYE, as an Anglo Quebecois, this whole debate is highly annoying. Its even worse when folk like Asher jump in and decree the people of my province a drag on the whole country. We might not be the oil rich tarsands, but Canada would be at a loss without us.

I love Canada, but I love Quebec more.

            How, pray tell?

The only thing I'd notice was my consumer electronics would get launched the same day as the US, rather than 3 weeks to a month later, and the lack of French on my soup cans...

They should give it back to the Huron, and go home

But those jerks out in Alberta bringing in unprecedented Federal income, much of which goes to you, are impossible to live with!
Excuse me, but Quebec didn't elect Martin. We didn't send most of the votes Chretien's way either. You have the other provinces to thank for that.

Ontario is another matter, their voters like soap operas and corruption rather than real government.

Quebec just sends us these clowns, Ontario votes them in, and we all suffer...

And Martin is way better than Chretien was...

Why, exactly? Not that I disbelieve you, but I would like to know the reasons you think so.

Personally, I think that having Quebec within Canada is nice, but not something that we couldn't live without.

Martin's a Montrealer. A poor excuse for one too.

the entire political system of Canada needs reform. I hate the redistribution of wealth, even if it profits my province.

Oh man. I almost missed this. No damn way.

Wait a minute. Hold on. How about this.
Canada lets Quebec go. Obviously there's a little tension involved.
                        Quebec, relocates to Iowa.
Texas, goes back to being a Republic.

Oh, I'm not saying Canada will fall apart with the loss of Quebec. Honestly, this is why I'm considering voting Yes next referendum. If Quebec doesnt have interefence in its things, and Canada doesnt have to put up with a large % of its parliament being held by a rebellious party, both people would be better off.

Canada isnt going to be broken, but its going to be a much more... bland country. I'll say that much.

You know, that sounds ALMOST acceptable..... but Iowa sucks.

If you ask me, the most bland part of Canada is how Quebec is never happy and always whining.
